Thirty-six inches is the end of the road for most of the catalog. Wall doubles, sink bases, drawer banks, lazy susans, pantries and glass fronts all reach 36″ and go no further; past it the list collapses to eight units at 39″ and ten at 42″. Sixty-seven units sit at this width, and understanding it is largely a matter of knowing which of them you will never see offered again.
Six ways to put a sink in 36 inches
No other width offers this many. Two are not cabinets at all: DSF36-1 at $149.50 and DSFL36-1 at $100.75 are diagonal sink fronts, priced as fronts, made to close a corner sink installation. The rest are boxes, and the choice between them is about the bowl.

The last corners and the biggest drawer banks
BLB36/39-1 at $614.25 is a blind corner base, and the slash in the code is worth decoding: one cabinet that fills an opening anywhere between 36″ and 39″, with the difference taken up by a filler strip at the blind end. That is how blind corners absorb the fact that no two corners measure the same. ERB36-1 at $848.25 and LSB36-1 at $1,095.25 are the easy-reach and lazy-susan corners, the widest the catalog builds.
On the drawer side, DB36-1 gives three drawers for $1,030.25 and DB36-2-1 two for $1,017.25. A 36″ drawer bank is a big object — three drawers each a yard wide — and it is the one place we would think about weight. The Blum Tandem glides are rated for it, but a 36″ drawer of cast iron is a lot of load to put on one pair of runners, and the two-drawer version spreads the same volume across deeper, less fully-loaded boxes.
Wide boxes are cheaper per inch, and it is not close
Take the 30″-high wall cabinet at three widths. W1230 displays at $227.50, which is $18.96 an inch. W2430 is $364.00, or $15.17 an inch. W3630 is $422.50 — $11.74 an inch. The wider box costs 38% less per inch of storage than the narrow one, because the doors, hinges, hanging rail and packaging cost roughly the same whatever the span.
That is an argument for planning in wide boxes wherever the wall allows, and it is also why a run of narrow cabinets quoted as “more cabinets” is usually worse value than one wide one. It stops being true at the top of the grid: past 36″ the choices thin out, and by 48″ you are buying a corner or a lift-up rather than a cabinet.
