The best corner cabinet ideas start with one measurement: how much wall each side of the corner can give up. If both walls can spare 33 inches or more at base height, you can use a lazy Susan or an easy-reach base. If one wall can't, a blind base is the answer, because it takes only 24 inches of the second wall. Upstairs, a diagonal or pie-cut wall cabinet takes 24 inches of each wall, and a blind wall cabinet takes as little as 12 inches of one. Corner drawers and open shelves are real options too, with bigger trade-offs. We sell cabinets for a living, and most corners get chosen by habit, so here are all nine options with the wall they use, the shelf they give you and what they cost.
Key takeaways
- The biggest shelf is not always the easiest to reach. A 36″ easy-reach base has about 1,152 sq in of footprint with a 34″ reach to the back corner. A 36″ lazy Susan's 32″ pie-cut tray covers about 603 sq in, and all of it comes to you.
- Upstairs, diagonal holds more and pie-cut reaches better. A 24″ diagonal has about 504 sq in per level and a 25½″ reach; a 24″ pie-cut has about 432 sq in and a 17″ reach.
- Stock corner drawers are hard to find. We found none in the Fabuwood, US Cabinet Depot, J&K or KCD books, so expect custom, and ask us about our other lines.
- A corner stack runs from $968.50 to about $2,500 in Galaxy Frost, base plus wall cabinet, depending on the combination.

Kitchen Corner Cabinets Side by Side
This table gives corner cabinet sizes by real code. Wall used runs from the corner along each wall. Area is the outside footprint of the box or tray per shelf level, our arithmetic from spec book sizes, so the inside is a little smaller. Prices are displayed Fabuwood Galaxy Frost white shaker prices with no finished sides, and you can check them in the Galaxy Frost spec book. Other finishes and lines differ.

A blind base doesn't save much wall overall, and against an LSB33 the larger blind box saves none. What it does is move the savings onto one wall, which matters when wall B has a window, a door or a centered range. If neither wall is short, that advantage is gone, and you're choosing on access and price.
The base and upper corners don't have to match. A blind base can sit under a diagonal upper, as long as your designer checks how the doors line up. The base corner, being twice as deep, usually decides whether the plan fits.
Corner Base Cabinet Options
A corner base cabinet comes in five forms: lazy Susan, easy reach, diagonal, blind and, rarely, corner drawers. Every base corner cabinet here stands 34½″ tall, the same as other base cabinet types, so the countertop runs across without a break.
Lazy Susan
This is the default for most L-shaped kitchens, because one spin brings the back to you. Fabuwood's LSB33 holds two 26″ pie-cut wood trays and its LSB36 two 32″ ones, each turning independently. J&K's LS3309 and LS3612 use kidney-shaped trays behind a bi-fold door. You can shop lazy Susan base cabinets directly.
Easy reach
The easy reach has the same L-shaped box and wall use, with bi-fold doors and a plain shelf instead of trays. The flat shelf takes sheet pans, a stand mixer or a stack of baking dishes that would never sit on a turning tray. The catch is the reach: the back corner of a 24-inch-deep L is about 34 inches from the elbow of the doors. In Galaxy Frost it costs about $192 to $247 less than the matching lazy Susan. Fabuwood's ERB includes one adjustable shelf. See easy reach base cabinets.
Diagonal corner base cabinet
A diagonal corner base cabinet, or angled corner cabinet, cuts the front of the box at 45 degrees and gives you one door instead of a folding pair. It's less common than most articles suggest: in the Fabuwood (Allure, Illume, Quest, Value), US Cabinet Depot, J&K and KCD spec books we checked, J&K's CBD36 is the only storage version: 36″ along each wall, 24″ deep at the sides, with a 14⅞″-wide door and two round wooden trays. Two things to weigh:
- It reaches farther into the room. The middle of the door sits about 42 inches from the corner, versus about 34 for the elbow of an L.
- The countertop has to follow. Show your countertop shop the drawing before you order.
Our area and reach figures for the CBD36 assume its printed 24″ sides. J&K's drawing also prints a 20⅜″ front, which doesn't fit those sides, so confirm the size with us before you plan around it.
Blind base
A blind base is a straight box that slides past the corner, with one door facing the room. It's the cheapest corner box and the hardest to reach. A BLB42/45 is 39″ wide with a 12⅞″ opening, so about two-thirds of it sits off to the side of the door, and its shelf is 18″ deep rather than the full 24″. A factory pull-out fixes the access, but for BLB42/45 it adds $1,277.25.
Corner drawers
V-fronted drawers that pull straight out of the corner are great to use and hard to buy from a stock line. None of the Fabuwood, US Cabinet Depot, J&K or KCD spec books we keep lists one, and our other lines need checking case by case. The hardware does exist: Blum's SPACE CORNER system has a recommended cabinet width of 900 to 1200 mm (about 35½″ to 47″), and Blum says its pull-outs carry up to 65 kg (about 143 lb). If you've fallen for corner drawers, ask early, and price them against a lazy Susan and a pull-out before committing the plan.
Corner Wall Cabinet Options
A corner wall cabinet is usually diagonal, pie-cut or blind, and usually 12″ deep instead of 24″, so the choices are simpler than at base height. Heights match the rest of the upper run: 30″, 36″ and 42″ are the common ones, and Galaxy Frost also lists 39″.
Diagonal corner wall cabinet
This is the usual upper corner, and all four lines in our codes table make one. The WDC2430 measures 24″ along each wall and 12″ deep at the sides, has a single door on a roughly 17-inch angled front, two adjustable shelves and soft-close hinges, for $455.00 in Galaxy Frost. Taller sizes are the WDC2436 at $510.25 and the WDC2442 at $581.75. If your uppers are 15″ deep, the WDC2730 runs 27″ along each wall at $539.50. US Cabinet Depot's DCW2430 is the same format at $317.68 RTA in Shaker White. One door opens the whole corner, though the back is about 25½ inches away, so keep light things there.
Pie-cut wall cabinet
A pie-cut upper is the L-shaped version: bi-fold doors meet at an elbow only about 17 inches from the back corner. It has less shelf and costs more than a diagonal in Fabuwood, at $542.75 for the WPC2430. US Cabinet Depot's version is the WER2430 at $345.84 RTA in Shaker White. Choose it if you're short, or if you want dishes rather than display in that corner.
Blind wall cabinet
Fabuwood's WBC2430 takes 24 to 27 inches of one wall and just the 12-inch depth of the neighboring cabinet on the other, at $354.25. Its 7″ door opening limits what it holds to things you rarely need. The WBC3630 costs only $48.75 more and opens 19″, if the wall can spare 36 inches. Shop blind wall cabinets.
Lazy Susan inserts and glass
A separately sold insert turns a corner upper into a small lazy Susan. In Galaxy Frost, the 18″ wood two-tray LSW24 30 is $429.00 for a 30″-high 24″ box, and the plastic LSP24 30 is $227.50. An 18″ tray covers about half of a WDC2430's 504 sq in per level, so it trades area for reach. Our Fabuwood accessories guide matches each insert to its box.
For display, a corner wall cabinet with glass doors comes two ways. US Cabinet Depot's DCW2430GD is a glass-door diagonal at $330.88 RTA in Shaker White. Fabuwood's NDWDC2430, at $757.25, has glass shelves and takes a specialty glass door you buy separately.
Open Corner Shelves
The simplest upper corner has no cabinet at all. Two shelves meet in the corner and nothing is out of reach, but everything on them is on show and collects kitchen dust.
Fabuwood's floating shelves are 10″ deep and 2½″ thick, in widths starting at 24″, with the FLS36 at $432.25 in our Galaxy Frost spec book. The online listing is the LED version, at $617.50. Butt two FLS36 shelves and one runs 36 inches along its wall, while the other starts 10 inches out and ends 46 inches from the corner. Measure your dinner plates before you commit to a 10-inch depth.
For the longer debate, see open shelving vs upper cabinets.
How Much Corner Cabinet Storage You Really Get
Corner cabinet storage comes down to two numbers: how much shelf you get per level, and how far you have to reach. Figures use outside dimensions, so the inside is a little less.
| Cabinet | Area per level | Levels | Reach to the back corner |
|---|---|---|---|
| LSB36 lazy Susan | About 603 sq in on the tray | 2 trays | None: the tray turns to you |
| ERB36 easy reach | About 1,152 sq in | Floor and 1 shelf | About 34″ from the door elbow |
| BLB42/45 blind | 936 sq in box; 18″-deep shelf | Floor and 1 shelf | Up to about 26″ sideways from the 12⅞″ opening |
| WDC2430 diagonal wall | About 504 sq in | Floor and 2 shelves | About 25½″ from the door |
| WPC2430 pie-cut wall | About 432 sq in | Floor and 2 shelves | About 17″ from the door elbow |
| WBC2430 blind wall | 288 sq in box; 10⅝″-deep shelves | Floor and 2 shelves | Up to about 17″ sideways from the 7″ opening |
An easy reach has about twice the area of a lazy Susan's tray or more at the same size, but you won't enjoy using the back of it, so keep it for big things you can see. Hardware always shrinks area: trays, inserts and pull-outs are worth buying for access, not capacity.
Same Cabinet, Different Codes
Every maker names these differently: KCD, J&K and US Cabinet Depot call a pie-cut upper "wall easy reach," for example. Use this table to compare quotes across lines. Fabuwood and US Cabinet Depot add a finish prefix, such as GF or SW-. J&K and KCD prices vary by door style, so we quote those from your layout.

Kitchens With Corner Cabinets: Which Suits Which Layout
An L with two open walls can take a lazy Susan or easy reach, while tighter plans lean on blind boxes. Your kitchen layout decides how many corners you have and how much wall they can take.
| Layout | Base corner | Wall corner | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard L, two open walls | LSB36 or ERB36 | WDC2430 or taller | There's room for the L, and one corner gets used daily. |
| Tight L, or one wall broken by a window or door | BLB36/39 or BLB42/45 | WBC2430 or WBC3630 | Keeps 24″ or 12″ on the short wall. |
| U with an 8-foot back wall | One LSB33 and one blind base | Diagonal plus blind, or open shelves | Two LSB33s would use 66″ of the 96″, leaving 30″, too narrow for a 36″ sink base. |
| Small kitchen | LSB33 or ERB33 | WDC2430 | These are the narrowest L-shaped and diagonal boxes in Allure. |
| Corner sink | Diagonal sink base DSB36 ($617.50), or a DSF36 front ($149.50) between two cabinets | Open shelves or none | The sink plumbing takes the corner, so it's not storage. See sink base types. |
| Limited reach or seated cook | Lazy Susan or custom drawers | Keep it light or skip it | The back of a blind base is out of range for many people. |
Ideas for Corner Kitchen Cabinets, Priced as Stacks
A corner is really two decisions, base and wall, so here are five combinations we'd draw, all in Galaxy Frost with no finished sides.
| Stack | Cabinets | Total | Good when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Budget | BLB36/39 + WBC2430 | $968.50 | Tight walls, a rental, or the corner holds holiday gear. |
| Big, flat storage | ERB36 + WDC2430 | $1,303.25 | You own sheet pans, a mixer and big platters. |
| Everyday cooking | LSB36 + WDC2430 | $1,550.25 | Pots and bowls go in the corner and you want them in one turn. |
| Easy reach up top | LSB36 + WPC2430 | $1,638.00 | You keep everyday dishes in the corner upper. |
| Best blind corner | BLB42/45 + factory pull-out + WDC2430 | $2,499.25 | One wall is short and you still want everything to roll out. |
Two other corner kitchen cabinet ideas are worth drawing:
- Appliance garage. A corner cabinet appliance garage such as the WDCAG2418 ($757.25) sits on the counter under a 24″ diagonal upper and hides the toaster and coffee maker. Our appliance garage sizes and ideas guide has the details.
- Peninsula access. If a peninsula forms the corner, a door on the far side can reach the space the kitchen side can't.
What to Specify When You Order
Some of these can't be changed once the box is built.
- Hand. Fabuwood's LSB and ERB need R or L at order, and its book says that once assembled the doors can't be reversed. WDC and WPC need a left or right hinge. Blind bases need blind left or blind right.
- Finished sides. On a WDC2430 in Allure, exposed sides get near-flush finished ends, unexposed sides stay unfinished with a ¼″ lip, and you state which at order. In Galaxy Frost, a finished side adds $50.05 on that box and $62.40 on an ERB33.
- Soft-close. Fabuwood's book says it isn't available on LSB, ERB or WPC. WDC has soft-close hinges.
- Fillers. Fabuwood's books call for one with a blind base or blind upper (BF3 and WF330 are $26.00 each), and a dishwasher or long pull beside any corner may need one too. Our end panels and fillers guide explains them.
- Square corners. L-shaped and diagonal boxes need a corner that's close to 90 degrees. Do the 3-4-5 check in our kitchen measuring guide and tell us if it's off.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best corner cabinet for a kitchen?
For most L-shaped kitchens with room on both walls, a 36″ lazy Susan base under a 24″ diagonal wall cabinet. Choose an easy reach if you store wide, flat items, and a blind base if one wall can't give up 33″.
What are standard corner base cabinet dimensions?
Standard corner base cabinet sizes for L-shaped lazy Susan and easy-reach boxes are 33″ or 36″ on each wall, 24″ deep at the sides and 34½″ high. Fabuwood's blind bases run from BLB36/39 to BLB48/51, using 36″ to 51″ on one wall and 24″ on the other. J&K's diagonal base is 36″ on each wall.
What size is a corner wall cabinet?
Usually 24″ along each wall and 12″ deep, in heights of 30″, 36″ or 42″. For 15″-deep uppers, 27″ versions exist, such as Fabuwood's WDC2730 and J&K's WDC273615. Blind wall cabinets run from 24″ to 36″ wide.
What is a diagonal corner cabinet?
One whose front is cut at 45 degrees, with one door facing into the room. All four lines in our codes table make it as a wall cabinet, but in the books we checked only J&K's CBD36 offers it as a storage base.
What is the best small corner cabinet?
At base height, the LSB33 and ERB33 use the least wall of the L-shaped boxes: 33″ on each side. A BLB36/39 uses 36″ on one wall but only 24″ on the other. Upstairs, the WBC2430 uses just 24″ and 12″, though its 7″ door opening limits it.
Can you get a corner base cabinet with drawers?
Not as a stock box in the books we checked, so full corner drawers mean custom. What those books do list is a blind base with a top drawer above its door, such as US Cabinet Depot's BBC36.
Do corner cabinets cost more?
Usually, but not always. In Galaxy Frost a straight 36″ base (B36) is $676.00, an ERB36 is $848.25 and an LSB36 is $1,095.25. A BLB36/39 is the exception at $614.25.
