Eighteen inches: the width where the good drawer inserts finally fit

Some widths are defined by the cabinets. Eighteen is defined by what goes inside them: nine accessory listings, three of which the catalog builds here and nowhere else. That is why a designer keeps nudging a run to make room for an 18″ base — it is the narrowest box the serious mechanisms are engineered for.
Three inserts you cannot get at any other width
Two drawer inserts with Blum hardware — CBKD-B18 at $672.75 and CHD-B18 at $1,111.50 — and the MLU-B18 base pull-out at $1,088.75 appear at 18″ and stop there. Alongside them, a third drawer insert at $429.00, the corner waste organizer CWO-B18 at $1,075.75, two waste pull-outs at $734.50 and two roll-out drawers at $201.50 and $250.25. Look at the listing photographs before committing to a four-figure one — these are mechanisms, easier to see than to describe from a code.
The roll-outs are the sleeper buy. Two hundred dollars turns a fixed shelf into a drawer that comes all the way out on Blum hardware, and they run from 15″ through 36″ — most of a kitchen for the price of one specialty insert.

The wall cabinet that is really a column
WD1848, WD1854, WD1857 and WD1860 — $796.25 to $926.25 — are 18″ wall units in 48, 54, 57 and 60″ heights with drawers in the lower section. That is an odd object until you see it in place: it is the cabinet that fills the whole distance from counter to ceiling on a wall too shallow for a pantry, giving you drawers at working height and shelves above, all at 12″ deep.
Reach for it on a breakfast wall, a coffee station, or the return beside a fridge where a 24″-deep tall cabinet would block the doorway. The 18″ pantry answers the same wall for $1,020.50 to $1,150.50, and the choice is really drawers against shelves.
Two 18″ full-height-door bases, $185.25 apart
The base list carries both B18FD-1 at $373.75 and FD18-1 at $559.00, plus the 12″-deep B18FD-12D-1 at $364.00. Two codes for what reads as one description, at meaningfully different prices, is not something we will guess about in print. Send us the drawing and we will confirm which code it means before the order goes in.
The rest is straightforward: B18-1 at $409.50 is the drawer-over-door standard, DB18-1 gives three drawers for $646.75 and DB18-4-1 four for $799.50. The four-drawer split is easier to justify here than at 15″, because the extra tray is wide enough to hold something other than teaspoons.
Nineteen uppers, and the ones worth knowing
Six single-door walls from $204.75 to $354.25; four NDW open boxes with finished interiors, $367.25 to $468.00; four WOS open shelf units, $399.75 to $500.50; and a WR18x18 wine rack at $383.50. So an 18″ bay can be closed, open, shelved or glazed without changing the width — useful where one bay has to break up a long row of doors.
