Construction, Side by Side

Every Allure cabinet — across all six collections — is built with a solid wood face frame and a plywood box, with solid wood or wood-veneer door fronts and Blum® soft-close hinges and drawer glides standard. That face frame is what makes Allure a framed line even when the door itself, like Nexus’s full-overlay slab, looks nearly seamless; the frame is still there under the door.

Illume drops the face frame entirely. It’s a frameless, full-access box built from furniture board rather than plywood, backed by Blum® soft-close hinges and reinforced metal drawer systems. Dropping the frame opens up the full cabinet interior — no rail across the front to work around — which is the main functional argument for frameless construction, independent of style.

Neither is the “wrong” build. Framed construction is the more traditional, time-tested approach and the reason Allure can offer solid wood face frames at Allure’s price; frameless is the newer European standard that Illume is priced around.
