Cubitac reviews and comparison posts tend to blur the details, so here is what each company actually publishes. The Cubitac column reflects cubitac.com as of October 14, 2026.

Here is what the public record shows, with dates. Cubitac Corp, the New Jersey company behind Cubitac cabinets, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on October 28, 2024. On February 9, 2026 the case was converted to a Chapter 7 liquidation (U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of New Jersey, No. 24-20659; case summary). Separately, the company's secured lender published a notice of a public UCC Article 9 auction for June 12, 2026. The notice lists the "Cubitac" brand name, the cubitac.com website and domain, cabinet component inventory and plant machinery at the company's Ridgefield, New Jersey facility. We have found no public report of the auction's outcome, and no buyer has been publicly named.

As of October 14, 2026, cubitac.com remains online, its footer reads "Cubitac Inc.", and it still shows the four series. We haven't found a public statement about who is making Cubitac cabinets now or who handles warranty claims, and we won't guess. What we'd do in your place: if anyone offers you Cubitac today, get in writing which company manufactures the cabinets and which company stands behind the warranty before paying a deposit.

Construction, Box by Box

This is the section most Cubitac vs Fabuwood posts get wrong, usually by copying box specs from retailer listings. Cubitac's current product pages publish door specs (frame size and material, center panel) and hardware, but not the cabinet box: no box material, side or back thickness, or drawer-box joinery. We can't verify those from the manufacturer, so we don't state them. If you own a Cubitac kitchen, your original order paperwork or the dealer who sold it is the reliable source.

Fabuwood documents its box in its spec books. On the framed Allure series: plywood box, solid wood face frame joined with glue and dowels, ⅝″ solid wood dovetail drawer boxes, and a back that is stapled and screwed into place. Hardware: Where the Clearest Gap Shows Up

Hinges and drawer runners are the moving parts, and the one spec both brands publish. Fabuwood puts Blum soft-close hinges and Blum drawer runners on every line it makes, so the entry Galaxy cabinet gets the same hardware brand as the flagship. On cubitac.com, the Imperial pages name "Blum soft-close BLUMOTION Full-Extension Slides" and Blum clip-on 6-way adjustable hinges. The Prestige, Basic and Presto pages list a "Concealed 6-Way Adjustable Soft-Close Hinge" and full-extension soft-close under-mount slides without naming a manufacturer.

An unnamed hinge isn't a bad hinge, and we have no failure data either way. What the difference does decide is repairs. Blum parts are stocked everywhere and stamped so you can identify them. For an unbranded hinge or slide, pull the part and match it by overlay, mounting style and length. It also means a Cubitac quote and a Fabuwood quote at the same total weren't always the same hardware spec, which is worth checking line by line on any old quote. Cubitac publishes its door frame and panel specs, and Fabuwood publishes its own, so here is how they line up on paper. These are look-alikes, not equivalents: no Fabuwood door is a drop-in match for a Cubitac door.

On paper, Dover and Nexus are the closest pair: nearly the same rail width and the same reversed-panel idea. Close is not identical, though. Rail widths, edge profiles and sheens differ between manufacturers, so order a door sample and hold it against the real cabinet before buying a run. Note too that cubitac.com marks several doors, including Milan, Newport, Ridgefield and Madison Dusk, as "discontinuing", which is one more reason to match from a physical door rather than a catalog photo.

Custom color used to be the category where Cubitac stood out. Today its "For the People" page pledges "an unlimited range of paint colors", and its product pages list custom colors as "Over 5,000+ colors" with a "Coming Soon" label. That's what the manufacturer says; we can't confirm how orders work now. A custom-color Cubitac kitchen may not correspond to any named finish, so if you're extending one, work from a physical door, not a photo.

Fabuwood has a custom color program too, and it is written into every Allure spec book: Signature Select finishes, Designer Collection colors, and Pure Custom, where you can specify any Benjamin Moore or Sherwin-Williams paint color. Pure Custom typically takes 6–8 weeks, needs a sample door, and carries a finishing upcharge plus a one-time set-up fee. Most buyers pick from the standard palette instead: Galaxy alone has 15 finishes, from Frost and Dove whites through Nickel, Indigo and Pistachio Green to wood tones like Timber and Truffle. Fabuwood first, because those are numbers you can act on. Our fixed Galaxy 10×10 kitchen, ten assembled cabinets in a standard L, is $4,400 in twelve Galaxy finishes and $5,300 in Desert Oak or Natural Oak. Real 10×10-sized Galaxy kitchens with drawers, a better corner and a pantry usually run $4,400–$7,000. The other Allure doors are $5,400 as a package ($6,500 in Luna oak); box for box from our specbooks, Luna, Echo, Fusion and Nexus price about 23% above Galaxy, Illume 9–21% and Ovela 17–30%. Warranty Fine Print

This section is dry until you need it, and then it's the only one that matters.

Fabuwood's terms are written into its spec books. The newest editions grant a limited lifetime warranty on the Allure, Illume, Ovela, Value Premium and Quest series, to the original residential purchaser. Read the exclusions before you rely on it: it doesn't cover Blum hinges or other third-party accessories, it isn't transferable, it's void in spaces without year-round climate control, and it doesn't pay for labor, removal or shipping. Like every painted-cabinet maker, Fabuwood treats hairline lines at painted door joints as normal material behavior, not a defect.

Cubitac's site still says it offers "a limited lifetime warranty" under its "For the People" pledge, but it doesn't publish the terms as text (its footer "Cabinet warranty" link returned a not-found page when we checked on October 14, 2026), and with Cubitac Corp in a Chapter 7 liquidation we can't confirm who is honoring claims. If you own Cubitac cabinets and have a problem, keep your invoice, the dealer's name and whatever warranty document you received together, start with the dealer who sold them, and know that claims against Cubitac Corp itself go through the bankruptcy case. Lead Times and Delivery

Fabuwood is quick by industry standards. Best-selling Allure, Illume and Ovela collections are kept in stock and ship assembled; every stock series, Galaxy included, typically ships in about 2 weeks. Made-to-order colors take longer: Signature Select, Designer Collection and Pure Custom colors typically take 6–8 weeks. Freight transit in the continental U.S. typically adds 1–7 business days after dispatch, confirmed on your quote. We can't confirm a current Cubitac lead time, so we don't quote one. Whatever you buy, inspect on delivery and photograph any freight damage before signing; with cabinet freight in general, that's where most claims start, and a photo on day one makes the fix painless.
