Thirty-nine inches: the end of the width ladder, and its premium

Four cabinets are made at this width — W3930, W3936, W3939 and W3942, $526.50 to $724.75 — and then the wall catalog effectively stops. It is a real width with a real use, but it is priced like the exception it is, and the arithmetic below is the argument you should have with yourself before ordering one.
Four units, one family, four heights
No shallow boxes, no corner, no blind, no doorless version, no appliance unit. Just the double-door box in the four tall heights — 30, 36, 39 and 42 inches — every one of them 12 inches deep with a pair of leaves just under 20 inches each.
Above 39 the ladder does not continue in any meaningful sense. Forty-two and forty-eight inches each carry exactly one product, a lift-up wall cabinet whose door hinges upward rather than sideways, and those are appliance-garage and over-hood solutions rather than general storage. For practical purposes, 39 is the last width.
Three ways to cover 39 inches of wall
At the standard 30-inch height, the same stretch of wall can be closed three ways, and they are close enough that the decision is about what you want rather than what you can afford.
- One W3930 at $526.50 — a single interior with no partition, two doors, and no filler to scribe. The cleanest elevation and the fewest parts.
- A W3630 at $422.50 plus a three-inch filler — the cheapest by roughly a hundred dollars, at the cost of three inches of storage and a flat strip visible in the run.
- A W2130 and a W1830 at $295.75 and $273.00, $568.75 together — more than the single 39, with a partition down the middle, but two independent doors and a hinge line you can place wherever the layout wants it.
Put plainly: the single wide box is not the extravagance it looks like. It beats the two-cabinet option outright, and it loses to the filler option only if you are happy to give up the storage.
When to buy one anyway
When the wall measures 39 and the elevation is symmetrical — a pair of them flanking a hood, or one centred over a sink between two returns — the alternative is a filler you will notice every day in the middle of a composition you paid to get right.
When the run above is unbroken and you want one shelf that takes a full baking tray flat. And when the cabinet is going where the eye lands: a single wide pair of doors is a calmer object than a narrow pair plus a strip of filler, and calm is most of what a well-drawn elevation is selling.
Where to stop: do not use 39 as a way of reducing cabinet count in an ordinary run. Three 36s cost less than three 39s by $312.00 at the standard height and store nearly as much. Take the width when the wall gives it to you; do not go looking for it.
