What Is Fabuwood Ovela?
Ovela is a series inside Fabuwood, not a separate brand. It is the company's second frameless line, after Illume, and the first one built on plywood. Fabuwood's framed Allure kitchens already used plywood boxes and dovetail drawers; Illume brought the frameless European look to the range but put it on furniture-board boxes with metal drawer systems. Ovela closes that gap: Illume's architecture and door with Allure-grade materials underneath.
The launch announcement listed two door styles, the flat Catalina and the Tuscany, with Galaxy and Luna profiles "in development." Fabuwood's Ovela page lists Catalina and Tuscany as current door styles. What we stock online is the Catalina collection: fifteen finishes on one slab door. Tuscany is a current Fabuwood door, so ask us to quote it; if you see an Ovela shaker in a photo, ask us before you plan around it.
The line is also wider than its kitchen reputation suggests. Each Ovela price book carries roughly 990 codes per finish: base, wall and tall cabinets, 21″-deep vanity cabinets, metal-framed glass doors in four frame colours, fillers, panels, floating shelves and the usual modifications. It is a full kitchen-and-bath program, not a capsule collection.
What Frameless Changes in a Real Kitchen
A framed cabinet, which is how Allure is built, has a solid wood face frame around the box opening and the doors hinge onto that frame. A frameless cabinet drops the frame: the doors hinge on the box sides and cover the whole front, so the opening is the full interior width. The storage gain is real but modest per box. It shows most in drawer stacks, where the extra interior width is usable every day, and least in wall cabinets. The installation point is the one people underestimate. With frameless, the doors are the entire face of the kitchen, so a wall that is out of plumb or a floor that dips shows up as uneven gaps. A carpenter who has hung frameless before is worth asking for.

All Fifteen Ovela Colors and Their Price Columns
Every Ovela door is the same Catalina slab, so choosing a finish comes down to surface, colour and, less obviously, price. Fabuwood prices the line in two columns. The four solid colours sit in the upper one; the other eleven share the lower one. A 30″ base (B30) is $695.50 in the upper column and $627.25 in the lower, and a 36″ sink base (SB36) is $627.25 against $568.75. Each finish links to its collection, where every cabinet in that finish is listed with its price:

A few things we tell people at this stage. The two-column pricing means a white kitchen costs more in Bianco Matte than in Muratti 4, which reads nearly as light; if budget matters, sample both. Gloss shows fingerprints and fine scratches more than matte, so it suits a kitchen where the doors get wiped often; our high-gloss cabinets guide covers the upkeep. The wood textures are the largest group because they are where modern kitchens are heading, and they give the warm-wood look without the colour shift and upkeep of real veneer.
Screens flatten all of these surfaces, especially the textures, and Carbone Matte in particular is lighter on our swatch than its name ("carbone" is charcoal) leads people to expect. Construction, Hardware and Warranty
Construction is the strongest argument for the line. Much of the frameless cabinetry sold at big-box stores, IKEA included, is built on particleboard. Ovela is built like this, per Fabuwood's Ovela spec book (version V.02.26.26) and the launch announcement:
- ¾″ UV-veneered plywood box. That is thicker than the ½″ plywood in Allure's framed boxes, which makes sense: a frameless box has no face frame to stiffen it, so the sides do all the work. Plywood also holds screws and resists swelling better than furniture board when water finds it; our furniture board vs. plywood guide explains why that matters most at the sink and dishwasher.
- ⅝″ solid-wood dovetail drawer boxes. The same joinery standard as Allure. If you see an Ovela listing that describes metal drawer systems, that is Illume's drawer, not Ovela's.
- Blum soft-close hardware. Doors and drawers close on Blumotion soft-close hardware, and the launch specs list six-way drawer adjustment, which lets an installer line up a run of drawer fronts. More on why the brand matters in our Blum hinges guide.
- Recessed plywood toe kicks and metal shelf clips. Small details: a plywood toe kick shrugs off mop water better than particleboard, and metal clips hold a loaded shelf more securely than plastic ones.
- Factory assembled. Cabinets arrive built, not flat-packed. Box squareness matters more with frameless, where the doors are the whole face of the kitchen.
Warranty. Fabuwood's newest spec books limit its limited lifetime warranty to five series: Allure, Illume, Ovela, Value Premium and Quest. So Ovela is covered. Read the limits before you rely on it: it covers the original residential purchaser and is not transferable, it excludes Blum hinges and third-party accessories, it does not pay labor or shipping, and it can be voided if the cabinets are installed somewhere without climate control. A vacation house left unheated through winter is the classic way to lose it.
Heat shields next to the range. The Ovela price book lists the powder-coated steel "Illume Heat Shield," sold singly and ordered in pairs. Its note is written for Illume: it says the shield protects the Illume laminate box from oven heat and that Fabuwood will not warranty Illume cabinetry installed beside a heating appliance without it. The book does not say whether that condition extends to Ovela's plywood box, but the part is listed for Ovela, so we include a pair on any Ovela layout with cabinets beside a range or cooktop rather than find out the hard way. At $22.10 a shield, it is not a part to skip.
Ovela vs. Illume vs. Allure
Ovela and Illume share the Catalina slab door and the same fifteen finish names, so on a showroom wall they can look identical. The differences are in the box, and Allure is the framed reference point both get measured against:

The practical reading: Illume gives you the European slab look for less, on a furniture-board box with metal drawer sides. That is a sound spec in a dry room. Ovela is the fuller commitment, with plywood and wood drawers under the same door, and it matters most where water does: the sink base, the dishwasher sides, a bathroom vanity. Ovela Prices vs. the Standard Allure Line, Box by Box
Most people asking about Ovela want to know what the frameless version costs over a regular Fabuwood kitchen. A 10×10 range hides more than it shows, so here is the same five-cabinet core of a kitchen (a 30″ base, a 36″ sink base, a 30″ drawer base and two 30″-wide wall cabinets) priced from the October 2026 spec books in four options:

Read the bottom row first. In its lower column, Ovela costs about an eighth more than Galaxy Frost for the same boxes, and about 7% more than Illume in the same finish. Choose one of the four solid colours and the gap to Galaxy grows to about a quarter. There is one more wrinkle worth knowing: Galaxy's two white-oak finishes are priced above its painted ones, and a Galaxy Desert Oak B30 is $666.25, more than the same box in lower-column Ovela.
So the fair question is not whether Ovela is built better than Allure. Box for box, the materials are close: plywood, wood-veneer construction, dovetail drawers, Blum hardware on both, with Ovela's box a quarter-inch thicker. What the premium pays for is the frameless architecture (full-width openings, tight even reveals, no frame showing) and a European slab door in gloss, matte or woodgrain that the framed line does not offer. If you want that look on plywood from this brand, Ovela is how you get it. If you mainly want a modern kitchen and don't mind a frame, price Luxe too: it is the flat door on the framed Allure box, listed at Galaxy prices.
The finish choice also moves your budget more than people expect. The upper column runs about 10% above the lower on each box, so on a 25-cabinet kitchen, moving from Bianco Matte to Muratti 4 or Silk Flow typically takes well over $1,000 off without changing a single box.
Who the Line Suits, and Who Should Skip It
Having quoted the range since launch, here is our read on fit. Ovela makes the most sense if:
- You want a flat-front European kitchen and won't accept particleboard. Most affordable frameless, IKEA included, is particleboard and flat-pack. Ovela is plywood, dovetail drawers and factory assembly at a semi-custom price.
- You like Illume but worry about water. Same door, same finishes; the plywood box is the upgrade that matters at the sink, the dishwasher and in a bathroom.
- Drawers do most of the work in your kitchen. Full-access drawer stacks are where frameless earns its keep, and Ovela's drawers are wood, not metal sides.

Skip it if your heart is set on shaker or raised-panel doors, since slab fronts are the whole identity here and Allure covers classic styles for less. Skip it if you want a custom paint colour, because Ovela has no paint program. And if the budget is tight and the room is dry, Illume in the same finish gets you the identical look for about 7% less; have us quote both on your layout and decide with real numbers in front of you.
Is Ovela a Good Line? Our Verdict
Because Ovela is a Fabuwood series, "is Ovela good" is partly "is Fabuwood good," and our Fabuwood cabinets review has that answer. On the line itself, our verdict is yes, with three conditions.
The construction holds up on paper and in the box. A ¾″ plywood frameless box, wood dovetail drawers and Blum hardware are what we would choose for a sink base, and it is unusual to find all three on frameless at this price, under a limited lifetime warranty. The doors are a known quantity too: the same fifteen Catalina finishes are sold on Illume, so only the box under them is new.
The conditions. First, it is new. Launched in November 2025, it has less than a year of kitchens in service, which is not long enough for anyone to tell you how the box ages. Second, the door choice is narrow: we stock one slab door online, Tuscany is quoted on request, and the planned profiles aren't orderable yet. Third, frameless is less forgiving to install. There is no face frame to hide an out-of-square wall, so the installer needs frameless experience, and the layout needs its fillers and heat shields drawn in from the start.
If you want a flat-front kitchen on plywood from a brand with a national dealer network, Ovela is a good buy and, in the lower price column, a better-value one than its reputation suggests. If any of those conditions bothers you, Illume (cheaper, same door) or the framed Allure line is the better call.
How to Price and Order an Ovela Kitchen
We don't publish a fixed Ovela package, because the price swings with the finish column and the mix of drawers, talls and panels. The fastest honest number is your own layout priced line by line. A few reference prices from the current price books, lower column first:

How long does delivery take?
It depends on the finish and your address, and we confirm the date on your quote rather than promise a generic window. Door samples ship on their own, so the usual order of things (sample first, kitchen after) doesn't add much time.
