Brand vs. Brand

Decora vs Omega

Same parent, neighbouring rungs. One is a deep made-to-order catalog you pick from; the other starts from a catalog and keeps going until the drawing is built.

Decora vs Omega is a question about how far up MasterBrand’s ladder a kitchen needs to go. Decorá, which MasterBrand describes as made-to-order cabinetry with a focus on color, gives you 73 door styles (28 of them inset or beaded inset), nearly 200 embellishments and Sherwin-Williams color matching, built in Jasper, Indiana. Omega, which MasterBrand calls its custom line, lists 85 door styles on framed and frameless platforms, plus more than 120 modifications, paint matched from any national brand, and one-off doors quoted to order. We sell Decorá and do not carry Omega, so below is where each one earns its price.

Choose Decorá if…

  • The design fits a catalog, and what you want from it is flush inset or a beaded frame drawn from 28 ready-made styles
  • A Sherwin-Williams color and a run of embellishments get you the custom look without a custom build
  • You want a published production window and a price that sits in the semi-custom band, not above it

Choose Omega if…

  • A room needs a door profile, species or cabinet that no catalog lists and has to be quoted as a one-off
  • Part of the house is frameless, or you want acrylic gloss or textured laminate from the same maker as a framed kitchen
  • The color has to match a Benjamin Moore chip, a fabric or an old piece of furniture, not a Sherwin-Williams number

Two Rungs on the Same MasterBrand Ladder

MasterBrand owns both names, and its own brand list separates them in a single phrase each: Decorá is “made-to-order cabinetry with an exciting focus on color,” and Omega is “modern and casual custom cabinetry.” That is the useful distinction. A made-to-order line builds each kitchen after you order it, but from a fixed menu of doors, boxes and finishes. A custom line will build from that menu too, and then quote whatever falls outside it.

Omega blurs the line on purpose. Its own site describes the framed series as semi-custom, with over 120 modifications, and says a custom quote is there for the moments a catalog cabinet can’t do the job. So Omega is really two programs under one badge: a broad semi-custom catalog, plus a custom shop behind it. Decorá stays in the first program and goes deep inside it. Omega started in a barn in Washburn, Iowa more than thirty years ago and still mills its own lumber from the rough board, while Decorá is hand-crafted in Jasper, Indiana.

How Far Each One Will Bend

Decorá’s flexibility is curated. You choose among 73 doors, a paint and stain deck, Sherwin-Williams matching, and nearly 200 wood and metal embellishments: moldings, hood details, applied accents and finishing pieces. Most “custom-looking” kitchens are really this kind of layering, and Decorá prices each layer as a line item. What it doesn’t publish is a sizing increment or a way to invent a new door, so a request that isn’t on the menu gets a yes or no from the factory, and we tell you which before you order.

Three light-wood base cabinet boxes with dimension lines: one with a filler strip, one widened, one angled to fit a wall
From left: a catalog box closed with a filler, a modified width, and a cabinet built to an odd wall. Decorá works in the first two; Omega’s custom quotes reach the third.

Omega goes further in three specific ways. Its designers can change a door’s profile or center panel, or combine details from two doors into a new one, and Omega says it will try to source a door it can’t build. Color can come from any national paint manufacturer’s deck, from a swatch or fabric you send in (with a sample returned for approval), or from a custom stain formulated to match a piece of furniture. And a cabinet that the modification list can’t reach goes to a custom quote instead of a filler strip.

Put simply, Decorá lets you pick almost anything from a very good list. Omega lets you add to the list. The second freedom costs money and time, and a lot of kitchens never need it.

Frames, Frameless and What Omega Publishes About the Box

Every Decorá cabinet is framed. Its four groups differ in how the door meets the frame: Classic and 5-Piece overlay, flush Inset, and Beaded Inset with a fine bead run around each opening. Omega builds a framed series and a Full Access (frameless) series, and says nearly every door style is available on both. Four doors, Nella, Nash, Rivvo and Rizzo, are drawn only for frameless boxes, and the Rivvo and Rizzo acrylic slabs come in seven high-gloss and six ultra-matte finishes. If the basement bar or a primary bath is going modern, Omega can do it without a second brand.

Omega publishes its box spec: ½″ plywood sides and ¾″ plywood shelving on framed cabinets, ¾″ plywood sides and shelves on Full Access, dovetailed drawers, and ANSI A161.1 certification through ICC-ES. It also offers inset with 1″ thick doors for a heavier furniture look. Decorá publishes its standard box as ½″ plywood sides with ¾″ plywood shelves, with solid-wood dovetail drawers and soft-close hinges and glides standard, so on paper the two framed boxes start from the same materials. The difference between them is how far each one lets you change the door, the size and the finish, not the carcass.

On inset specifically, Decorá has the bigger ready-made menu: 15 flush and 13 beaded styles across eight door families. Omega offers inset but we couldn’t confirm a beaded-frame group on its site, so if the bead matters, get the exact door named on an Omega quote.

What the Extra Rung Costs in Dollars and Weeks

Neither brand prints a price list. Our cost estimator puts the semi-custom tier, where Decorá sits, at roughly $400–$650 per linear foot at retail, cabinets only, with Decorá landing toward the top once inset, custom color and embellishments go on. Omega’s dealers quote it, and we don’t, so we won’t put a number on it. As a rule, the same drawing priced in a custom program comes back above the semi-custom figure, and every one-off door or cabinet adds to it. Treat that as a typical pattern, not an Omega quote.

Time follows the same logic. Decorá is built to order in 2–6 weeks of production, plus 7–14 business days of freight, and arrives assembled. Omega doesn’t publish a lead time. Custom programs in general take longer than semi-custom ones, because drawings, approvals and color samples come before the build, and our tier guide puts custom at roughly 8–16 weeks or more. Ask an Omega dealer for the date in writing, and ask how a custom color sample changes it.

One Warranty Issuer, Terms Worth Reading

Both carry a limited lifetime warranty from MasterBrand. Omega’s published version is worth reading before you sign. It covers the first residential purchaser only and does not pass to a new owner when the house sells. It excludes rental property, including part-time Airbnb or VRBO use. It covers vent hoods and decorative hardware for one year, and lighting and powered parts for two. Warping that shows up after the first 365 days is excluded, and MasterBrand can wait up to 12 months after a warp claim to let the cabinet acclimate.

Decorá’s coverage is also a MasterBrand limited lifetime warranty. We give buyers the current written terms with the quote rather than assuming every clause matches Omega’s. If the kitchen is in a rental or a short-term let, raise that before ordering from either brand.

Where Diamond and Fabuwood Fit In

Shoppers comparing Omega often have Diamond or Fabuwood on the list too. Diamond is another MasterBrand line that we carry. Its Edge tier builds on a plywood box as standard, offers 48+ door styles with custom edge profiles and 2,000+ Sherwin-Williams colors, and is the closest thing in the family to Omega’s framed catalog without going custom. Fabuwood is a different kind of buy: framed Allure cabinets on a ½″ veneered plywood box, frameless Ovela and Illume, catalog sizes, and our Most Popular price tier of about $250–$400 per linear foot. Neither will build you a one-off door.

Our usual advice runs in order. Start with the least custom line that can draw your room. If Fabuwood or Diamond covers it, the savings are real. Move to Decorá for inset, beading and embellishment. Go to Omega only when the drawing has something no catalog lists. Send us the layout through our free 3D design service: a designer replies within 1 business day, and a rendered plan with an itemized Decorá or Diamond quote follows in 24–48 hours. You can then take that same plan to an Omega dealer and compare the two quotes.

FAQ

Decorá vs Omega FAQ

Common questions about how these two compare.

Yes. Both belong to MasterBrand, which also owns Diamond and Mantra. Decorá is hand-crafted in Jasper, Indiana. Omega began in Washburn, Iowa and mills its own lumber. MasterBrand positions Decorá as made-to-order and Omega as its custom line.

Both. Omega’s own site describes its framed series as semi-custom, with more than 120 modifications, and offers custom quotes for doors and cabinets beyond that list. Its Full Access series is frameless. Decorá stays within a made-to-order catalog of 73 doors.

Decorá has the larger published inset menu: 15 flush inset and 13 beaded inset door styles. Omega offers inset with 1″ thick doors, but we couldn’t confirm a separate beaded-frame group on its site, so name the exact door on any Omega quote.

No. Every Decorá door group is built on a framed box. Omega’s Full Access series is frameless, and it includes acrylic gloss and matte slabs and textured melamine doors. Among the lines we carry, frameless options include Fabuwood Ovela and Illume and St. Martin Vista.

Usually, for the same drawing, though neither publishes prices. Decorá sits in the semi-custom band on our estimator, roughly $400–$650 per linear foot at retail, cabinets only. Custom programs generally quote above that, and each one-off piece adds more. Price your own layout in both to see the actual gap.

No. We sell Decorá and Diamond, both MasterBrand, and ship them to all 50 states. Omega is sold through its own dealers in the U.S. and Canada. Our Omega details come from omegacabinetry.com as of September 2026, so confirm current specs with an Omega dealer.
