J&K Cabinetry Review (2026): Series, Colors, Prices and What to Watch

J&K Cabinetry is a value brand, sold ready-to-assemble or assembled, built to one spec across its three lines: solid wood doors and face frames (the Economy E-series doors have a plywood center panel), ½″–⅝″ plywood boxes, ⅝″ dovetail solid wood drawers on soft-close glides rated "3/4 to Full extension," and soft-close hinges, backed by a published five-year limited warranty and a 7–10 day lead time. It sells through dealers without a published price list, which puts a typical kitchen in our mid tier, roughly $220–$400 per linear foot at retail before trade discounts. The strengths are the solid-wood door, an 11-finish Transitional shaker palette and a real glazed Traditional line; the limits are unbranded hardware, five years of warranty instead of lifetime, and no frameless or slab option.
Cards on the table: we sell J&K. We're builders who sell cabinets, an authorized J&K dealer that designs and quotes it alongside Fabuwood, US Cabinet Depot and the other lines on our site, and ships it nationwide. We don't install cabinets, and we don't run a showroom. This J&K Cabinetry review is the one we'd want before ordering: what every line is built from, which finishes exist, what it costs, and where we'd steer you to a different brand. Where the facts on file run out, we say so.
Key takeaways
- J&K (also written J and K Cabinetry or JK Cabinetry) is a CARB2-compliant, NKBA-affiliated maker headquartered in Norcross, Georgia, sold through a nationwide network of wholesalers and dealers and shipped ready-to-assemble or assembled.
- Three lines, one build sheet: Contemporary (flat-panel shaker, 3 finishes), Transitional (balanced shaker, 11 finishes) and Traditional (raised panel, mostly glazed, 4 finishes). All 18 finishes are framed.
- Construction: ¾″ solid wood doors and face frames, ½″–⅝″ plywood boxes, ⅝″ dovetail drawers on "3/4 to Full extension" soft-close glides, 6-way soft-close hinges, and metal corner brackets in base cabinets. Hardware is unbranded, not Blum.
- No published price list. Our cost estimator puts it in the mid tier at about $220–$400 per linear foot; trade buyers get trade pricing through Captivating Pro.
- Warranty: five-year limited (or as long as the original purchaser owns the home, whichever is less); hinges and glides 1 year.
- No frameless line and no true slab door.
Who J&K Is and How It Sells
J&K Cabinetry makes kitchen and bath cabinets for homeowners and contractors who want an all-wood spec at a value price, and distributes them through 19-plus branch warehouses and showrooms plus authorized dealers like us. It's CARB2 compliant (California's formaldehyde-emission standard) and NKBA affiliated. Its official site is jk-cabinetry.com; other domains with J&K in the name belong to resellers.
On where the cabinets are made, J&K's own answer has changed. Its current post, Where are J&K Cabinets Manufactured?, doesn't name a country; it says products are "manufactured in state-of-the-art large scale facilities" and "our RTA cabinets are assembled in the United States." An older version said "J&K Cabinetry is proud to produce our products in Mexico." If country of origin matters for your project, ask us to confirm it in writing for your order.
The distribution model matters more. The brand doesn't sell direct or publish retail pricing; it quotes through dealers, and its contractor program is built around fast quotes. That's why it shows up so often in trade conversations; our best cabinets for contractors guide puts it in the mid tier, and our top 10 kitchen cabinet brands ranking scores it seventh of the ten brands it ranks, held back by warranty length and a short finish list rather than by the box.
The Three Lines: Contemporary, Transitional, and Traditional
J&K organizes by design language, not price tier. The box, drawers, hardware, warranty and lead time are identical across all three lines; only the door profile and palette change, so the line decision is a style decision.
| Line | Door style | Finishes | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contemporary | Five-piece flat-panel shaker, minimal profile | 3 — White Shaker S8, Castle Grey S5, Java Coffee S1 | Modern kitchens that want the cleanest door the brand makes |
| Transitional | Balanced shaker with subtle reveal detailing | 11 — whites, greys, sage, navy, wood tones, one glaze | Kitchens that bridge classic and current, or match existing floors and trim |
| Traditional | Raised panel on a multi-step molded profile, most with a hand-applied glaze | 4 — Mocha Glazed K10, Creme Glazed A7, Chocolate Glazed M01, Mahogany J5 | Formal kitchens that want dimensional detail on the door |
Every line is framed; there's no frameless option anywhere in the catalog, and our framed vs frameless guide explains what that means. Contemporary isn't a slab door either: it's a five-piece flat-panel shaker with the profile stripped to a minimum. The two names that trip people up, Transitional and Traditional, sit at opposite ends of the brand's range, which is why we wrote Transitional vs Traditional; the Transitional vs Contemporary choice is purely door and palette.
Construction and Hardware, Spec by Spec
This is the build sheet from the J&K spec book, applied to every cabinet in every line:
| Component | J&K spec |
|---|---|
| Doors and face frames | 3/4″ solid wood, full overlay; E-series doors use a plywood center panel |
| Box | 1/2″ to 5/8″ cabinet-grade plywood, clear-coated interior |
| Shelves | 3/4″ cabinet-grade plywood, adjustable |
| Drawers | 5/8″ solid wood on all sides, dovetailed |
| Drawer glides | "3/4 to Full extension," soft-close, concealed under-mount |
| Hinges | 6-way adjustable, soft-close, concealed Euro-style |
| Reinforcement | Metal corner brackets in base cabinets |
| Format | Ready-to-assemble (flat-pack) or assembled; both ship in 7–10 days |
The headline is the door. Most value brands, Fabuwood included, build framed doors around an MDF center panel, because engineered panels don't move with humidity and so don't crack paint at the joints. J&K's solid wood door is the stronger sentence on a spec sheet; the trade-off is that solid panels move seasonally, so hairline lines at painted joints are normal on this brand, as on any all-wood painted door. Our materials and construction guide covers what each material does without the marketing, and our guide to how to tell quality kitchen cabinets shows what to check on a sample.
The drawer box is the real thing: dovetailed solid wood, the joint our dovetail drawer explainer calls the most reliable tell of a well-built cabinet. Note the glide wording, though: J&K rates its under-mount glides "3/4 to Full extension," so some drawers may not open all the way; confirm the glide on your deepest drawers if full access matters. Our undermount vs side-mount drawer slides guide explains the difference.
Now the row that cuts the other way: the hinges and glides are unbranded. They're metal, they close quietly, and they're concealed, but there's no Blum stamp. Fabuwood ships Blum hinges and runners on every series. If quiet, self-closing doors are the point, both deliver; if replacement-part availability in year ten is the point, brand-name hardware is the safer bet.
RTA or Assembled: What Each Means for Your Project
J&K cabinets can be ordered ready-to-assemble or assembled, and both formats ship in 7–10 days, so the choice is about labor and access, not the calendar. Flat-pack has real advantages: cheaper freight, dense pallets, cartons that fit a tight stairwell or a condo elevator, and no assembled premium for a crew that builds boxes anyway. It also has a real cost: someone builds every box, and assembly quality becomes your responsibility. Budget installer time for it, or order the boxes assembled; our RTA vs pre-assembled guide covers the trade-off honestly. For the flat-pack field as a whole, see our RTA kitchen cabinet brands ranked.
Every J&K Cabinet Color, Line by Line
Eighteen finishes across three lines, each available only on its line's door: there's no Naval raised panel and no Mocha Glazed flat-panel shaker. The codes (S8, E1, K10) are J&K's own and label the cartons, so keep them on your paperwork.
| Line | Finish | What it looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Contemporary | White Shaker S8 | Crisp bright white, flat center panel |
| Castle Grey S5 | Solid mid-tone cool grey | |
| Java Coffee S1 | Deep, near-black espresso stain over visible grain | |
| Transitional | Dove E1 | Soft, warm off-white |
| Pure B5 | Crisp, cool white; brighter than Dove | |
| Pebble B6 | Soft neutral grey-green, close to a warm putty grey | |
| Greige K3 | Grey-beige with a routed reveal-line profile | |
| Sage E3 | Muted, greyed-out sage green | |
| Naval B7 | Deep navy blue | |
| Charcoal E2 | Deep near-black charcoal | |
| Butterscotch B8 | Warm golden-honey stain with visible grain | |
| Espresso K8 | Deep espresso-brown stain with a routed reveal line | |
| Hazel H8 | Warm greige-taupe wood tone with a soft edge glaze | |
| Pearl Glazed H9 | Cream-white base with a warm brown glaze on every profile edge | |
| Traditional | Creme Glazed A7 | Cream-ivory raised panel with a soft brown glaze |
| Mocha Glazed K10 | Warm caramel-brown raised panel with a dark glaze | |
| Chocolate Glazed M01 | Deep chocolate-brown raised panel with a darker glaze | |
| Mahogany J5 | Rich reddish-brown stain, no glaze |
The E in Dove E1, Charcoal E2 and Sage E3 marks J&K's Economy Series. The manufacturer's color pages (Dove, for one) describe each as "featuring a Solid Plywood Center," and the spec book notes a plywood center panel for the E-series, with the same box, drawers and hardware as the other finishes. For a painted door, a plywood center moves less than a solid panel, so we don't treat the E-series as a lesser cabinet; it's just the one exception to the solid-wood-door line.
Transitional's door isn't uniform across the palette: Espresso and Greige carry a routed reveal line, Hazel and Pearl Glazed add an edge glaze, and the painted colors read as a clean recessed panel, so order the sample for the exact finish you're buying. Sage, Pebble and Greige shift noticeably with the light. Door samples for every finish are on our J&K sample page, and our guide to evaluating cabinet samples explains what to check.
Sizes, Modifications, and the Spec Book
The full J&K spec book is posted on each line's page in our library (Contemporary, Transitional, Traditional); it lists every box with dimensions and construction details, and it's the document your installer and fabricator should work from. J&K doesn't publish a public modification menu, so if you need a depth change, a finished side or an odd width, ask your designer what's available on that cabinet before planning around it. Our free 3D design service turns your measurements into a layout using J&K's actual box sizes.
What J&K Cabinets Cost (and Why There Is No Price List)
There's no published J&K Cabinetry price list; the brand quotes through dealers. What we can give you is where it lands on our kitchen cabinet cost estimator, cabinets only, before installation, counters or appliances:
| Tier | Per linear foot | 20-ft 10×10 | Lines |
|---|---|---|---|
| Value Lines | ~$150–$250 | ~$3,000–$5,000 | KCD, US Cabinet Depot, Tribeca |
| Most Popular | ~$220–$400 | ~$4,400–$8,000 | J&K, Fabuwood, Modernform, Mantra |
| Semi-custom | ~$400–$650 | ~$8,000–$13,000 | Decorá, Diamond |
Within the band, the finish and layout move the number, not the line; all three lines share one build sheet and one price structure. Our 10×10 pricing guide explains the benchmark. Per-cabinet prices aren't secret: every J&K collection page on our site shows the price of each box, and the itemized quote with your 3D design lists every cabinet by SKU. For a published comparison point, a standard-finish Fabuwood Galaxy 10×10 is $4,400 on our site, assembled.
Contractors, builders and designers buying through Captivating Pro get trade pricing, which is the number that makes an RTA solid-wood kitchen hard to beat on a client remodel. Homeowners can spread an order through Shop Pay Installments, and our cabinet cost guide covers the market-wide picture.
Warranty, Certifications, and Lead Times
J&K's published limited warranty is a five-year limited warranty on defects in material and workmanship under normal residential use, for the original purchaser, non-transferable, with the usual exclusions (wear, misuse, improper installation, natural wood movement). Three details matter: the term is five years or as long as the original purchaser owns the home, whichever is less; door hinges and drawer glide systems are covered for 1 year, not five; and it applies only to products bought from authorized sellers. In J&K's words, "Warranty claims for products purchased from online retailers, auction websites, any unauthorized third-party sellers may not be honored." We're an authorized J&K dealer, and our customers' claims run through us. Labor is excluded.
Five years is the honest weak row. Fabuwood and US Cabinet Depot publish limited lifetime terms; in the value tier, J&K shares its five-year term with Mantra. Real defects usually show up early (a failed hinge, a finish flaw, a drawer that never ran true), so five years covers the window where most claims happen. But if long-tail coverage is on your checklist, this row decides the comparison.
On certifications, J&K is CARB2 compliant and NKBA affiliated; nothing we publish shows KCMA certification, so don't assume that badge. Lead time is 7–10 days from order confirmation, with tracked freight. On a hard deadline, ask for a current estimate for your exact finish, and photograph the pallet before you sign, because shipping damage is where most cabinet claims start.
J&K vs Fabuwood
This is the cross-shop we field most, and the honest difference isn't quality; it's workflow.
| Row | J&K Cabinetry | Fabuwood |
|---|---|---|
| Format | RTA or assembled | Pre-assembled only |
| Door | 3/4″ solid wood | Solid wood (or HDF, painted Luna) frame with an MDF center panel |
| Box | 1/2″–5/8″ plywood | 1/2″ veneered plywood (Allure); furniture board (Illume) |
| Hardware | Unbranded soft-close; glides "3/4 to Full extension" | Blum soft-close hinges and runners |
| Range | 18 finishes, 3 framed lines | Framed Allure (Galaxy alone has 15 finishes) plus frameless Illume and Ovela |
| Warranty | 5-year limited | Limited lifetime on Allure, Illume, Ovela, Value Premium and Quest |
| Pricing | Quote-based, mid tier | Published; standard-finish Galaxy 10×10 $4,400 on our site |
Choose Fabuwood when assembled convenience, Blum hardware, a limited lifetime warranty or a frameless option leads; it's the easier brand for a homeowner managing their own remodel. Choose J&K when you're buying like a contractor: flat-pack freight if your crew builds boxes, an all-solid-wood door to sell to the client, and fast wholesale quotes. The line-by-line is on our Fabuwood vs J&K comparison, and our Fabuwood review gives that brand the same treatment.
J&K vs US Cabinet Depot
This is the closer fight, because the build sheets read like twins: plywood boxes, solid hardwood face frames, ⅝″ dovetail drawers, soft-close standard, CARB2 materials, flat-pack freight. The second-order rows split them. J&K's doors are solid wood where USCD runs five-piece doors on hardwood frames; USCD publishes a limited lifetime warranty where J&K publishes five years; both can be ordered assembled; USCD stocks two frameless slab lines (Palermo and Torino) J&K has no answer to; and USCD sits in our value RTA tier while J&K sits a step above.
J&K wins outright on the formal kitchen: a glazed raised-panel Traditional line in three glazes and a mahogany stain. USCD wins on paper and flexibility: the warranty, the frameless slabs, and 29 door-and-finish options across seven series against 18 across three. Read our J&K vs US Cabinet Depot comparison and our US Cabinet Depot review if you're quoting both.
Who It Suits, and Who Should Buy Something Else
| J&K is a strong fit for… | Look elsewhere if you want… |
|---|---|
| Contractors and remodelers who assemble cabinets anyway | A frameless European kitchen: Fabuwood Illume or Ovela, USCD Palermo or Torino, Modernform, or St. Martin Vista and NOMA |
| A formal, glazed, raised-panel kitchen at a value price | A true slab door; Contemporary is a minimal five-piece shaker |
| Palette room on a shaker door: eleven Transitional finishes | A limited lifetime warranty: Fabuwood or US Cabinet Depot, or Decorá and Diamond further up |
| Homeowners comfortable with RTA who'd rather spend the assembled premium on counters | Blum soft-close hardware as standard, or a frameless slab door |
A Buying Checklist for JK Kitchen Cabinets
If the brand fits, get these in writing before you order:
- Line and finish code on the quote: "Transitional Dove E1," not "J&K white."
- Assembly labor in the budget if you order RTA, since every box then arrives flat-pack.
- The glide spec on your drawers: which are full extension and which are 3/4.
- Dimensions from the spec book, especially for corner units and tall cabinets.
- Any modification itemized as its own line with a price.
- The current written warranty, kept with the receipt, and proof you bought from an authorized dealer.
- A lead-time estimate for your finish and a physical door sample in your light.
- A same-layout quote in one other brand, so the price difference is a number.
Our kitchen cabinet buying checklist covers the same questions for any manufacturer.
Our J&K Cabinetry Review Verdict
It wins on the door (solid wood doors and frames are the cleanest all-wood story in the value tier), the 11-finish Transitional palette, a genuinely formal glazed Traditional line, dovetail drawers and soft-close standard with no upgrade fees, and RTA economics (with assembled boxes available too) that make it one of the strongest trade buys we sell. It loses on a five-year warranty against competitors' limited lifetime terms, unbranded hardware with 3/4-extension glides on some drawers, no frameless or slab option, and no published price list.
If you're a contractor, or a homeowner with a crew who assembles boxes without complaint, and the kitchen is a shaker or a formal raised panel, J&K is very hard to beat for the money. If you want Blum hardware, limited lifetime paper or a European slab, buy one of the neighbors linked above; we sell those too.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are J&K cabinets good quality?
For the price, yes. Every line uses solid wood doors and face frames (E-series doors have a plywood center panel), ½″–⅝″ plywood boxes, ⅝″ dovetail solid wood drawers, soft-close hinges and glides, and metal corner brackets in base cabinets. The compromises are unbranded hardware, glides rated "3/4 to Full extension," and a five-year warranty with hinges and glides covered for 1 year.
Are J&K doors and boxes solid wood?
The face frames are solid wood, and the ¾″ doors are solid wood except the Economy E-series (Dove E1, Charcoal E2, Sage E3), which uses a plywood center panel. The drawer boxes are dovetailed solid wood, and the cabinet boxes are ½″–⅝″ plywood, which is what you want structurally.
Is there a J&K Cabinetry price list?
Not a published one; the brand quotes through dealers. On our cost estimator it sits in the mid tier at about $220–$400 per linear foot at retail, and trade buyers get trade pricing below that. Per-cabinet prices are on each collection page and in your itemized quote.
Is J&K shipped RTA or pre-assembled?
Either. All three lines can be ordered ready-to-assemble or assembled, and both formats ship in 7–10 days. If you order RTA, plan crew or installer time for assembly.
What is the J&K warranty?
A five-year limited warranty on defects in material and workmanship under normal residential use, for the original purchaser, non-transferable, and ending sooner if they sell the home. Hinges and drawer glides are covered for 1 year, and J&K says claims on products from unauthorized sellers may not be honored.
Does J&K use Blum hardware?
No. The soft-close hinges and under-mount glides are metal and concealed but not Blum-branded. Fabuwood ships Blum hinges and runners on every series. Both close quietly; the brand name and long-term parts availability are the difference.
How many colors does J&K offer?
Eighteen across three lines: Contemporary has three (White Shaker S8, Castle Grey S5, Java Coffee S1), Transitional has eleven (Dove, Pure, Pebble, Greige, Sage, Naval, Charcoal, Butterscotch, Espresso, Hazel, Pearl Glazed), and Traditional has four (Creme Glazed, Mocha Glazed, Chocolate Glazed, Mahogany). Each color is only on its line's door.
Is J&K the same as KCD cabinets?
No. They're separate companies that often get typed as each other. KCD is Kitchen Cabinet Distributors, with Premier (Brooklyn, Shaker, Oslo) and Essential series; J&K is a different company with three lines. We carry both; our KCD review covers KCD.
