Galaxy Cobblestone glass doors: a mirror by day, a lantern by night
Reviewed September 2026 · Captivating Cabinets
A pane of glass in a white frame is a window. The same glass set into a Galaxy Cobblestone glass doors unit behaves more like dark water: with nothing lit behind it, it reflects the room back, and with the interior lit it becomes the brightest object on the wall. That swing between noon and night is what this page plans for, along with the one case where glass in this finish belongs on your order at all, and the sizes it actually comes in.
At noon: why glass on dark cabinets turns into a mirror
Glass reflects most where the space behind it is darker than the room in front. A cabinet interior is shaded by its own box, and on a light kitchen that shade is mild. Set in a dark stained frame opposite a window, a glass front picks up the window, the pendants and whoever is standing at the island. From some angles the contents disappear behind that reflection.
Three things reduce it. A lighter interior, which these boxes already have: the natural veneer inside every Galaxy cabinet is far paler than the #302E2A door, so the shade behind the glass is shallower than the frame suggests. Pale contents — clear glass, white or cream stoneware — lift it further. And placement: a glass unit on the wall facing the main window will reflect more than one on a side wall. If a daylight view of the contents matters, put the glass where the light falls across it, not straight at it.
After dark: an unlit glass front is black; a lit one is the brightest thing on the wall

On a white kitchen an unlit glass cabinet at night is a gray rectangle. On a dark stain it is a black one, indistinguishable from the frame, and you have paid for glass that nobody sees. Lit, it reverses: a warm interior strip on the pale veneer makes the unit glow against the surrounding dark, which no other finish in the range does as strongly. This is the real reason to put glass in a Cobblestone run.
The parts are on the cabinet accessories page: GC LED CAB INT 48″ STRIP at $221.00 for the inside of a wide or tall unit, the 2-1/4″ puck at $71.50 for a corner, and the driver ($204.75) and wireless switch ($221.00) every LED on the list relies on. The list does not give a color temperature; warm white suits the brown in this stain and the honey of the veneer, so ask your designer for the spec, or use the tunable strip ($286.00). Put the interior lights on their own switch — a display glow at night and full task light in the morning are different settings.
When glass belongs in a Cobblestone order, and when it comes from the other finish
Cobblestone is most often the lower half of a two-tone kitchen: dark bases and island, lighter uppers. In that plan, glass fronts are uppers, so they come from the upper finish, not from this page. A glass unit in this finish makes sense in three situations:
- An all-Cobblestone kitchen, where a pair of lit glass uppers either side of the range hood breaks up a long dark wall.
- A dark hutch or bar wall inside a lighter kitchen: a run of Cobblestone uppers over base cabinets, treated as furniture, with the 18″ × 60″ double-door GCB GDWD1860 ($188.50) as its centre.
- An upper corner in a dark run, where a diagonal corner glass unit shows off the corner instead of hiding it.
One or two per wall is the ceiling. More than that on a dark run and the eye reads a row of lit boxes rather than a kitchen. If your plan has lighter uppers, see the Cobblestone vs Nickel comparison for how the two grays share a room.
Glass door wall cabinet sizes and prices in this finish
Nineteen units are listed. Fifteen form a grid of five widths and three heights; the SKU gives both, so GCB GDW3036 is 30″ wide by 36″ high.
| Width | 30″ high | 36″ high | 42″ high |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15″ | $97.50 | $117.00 | $139.75 |
| 18″ | $117.00 | $139.75 | $162.50 |
| 24″ | $165.75 | $201.50 | $234.00 |
| 30″ | $201.50 | $234.00 | $279.50 |
| 36″ | $234.00 | $279.50 | $321.75 |
The other four: the 24″ diagonal corner units GCB GDWDC2430, 2436 and 2442 at $100.75, $117.00 and $139.75, and the 18″ × 60″ double-door GDWD1860 at $188.50.
Note the missing height. The solid Cobblestone uppers include 39″ units — W1539 through W3639 — but the live list carries no 39″ glass unit and no 39″ diagonal corner. If your ceiling calls for 39″ uppers, a glass cabinet in the same run would sit 3″ short or 3″ tall. Ask your designer whether a 39″ glass unit can be ordered before you plan around one; otherwise choose 36″ or 42″ uppers for the whole wall. The wall cabinet sizing guide explains which height suits which ceiling.
The titles read “Wall Glass Door Cabinet” and do not name the glass type or a mullion pattern. Before you compare this list with another dealer’s, ask exactly what ships with each SKU.
What gets ordered with a dark glass unit
A glass cabinet in a Cobblestone run is one line among several. Order the rest at the same time so the stain matches.
The solid uppers either side
Same widths and heights, so the glass unit takes the place of one of them. Browse the wall cabinets.
Skin and crown
A wall skin ($50.05) on an exposed side, and the crown profile used on the rest of the run. Both are with the decorative accessories.
Interior light and a stemware rack
The 48″ interior strip or a puck, the driver and a switch, and optionally GC STMW30 or STMW36 ($403.00 / $425.75) underneath. See the accessories list. A free 3D design will show how a lit unit looks in your run before you order.
Common questions
- Do glass cabinet doors on dark cabinets reflect a lot?
- More than on light cabinets, because the space behind the glass is darker than the room in front. The pale veneer interior of these boxes helps, as do clear or light-colored contents and placing the glass on a side wall rather than facing the main window.
- Do dark glass-front cabinets need interior lighting?
- Yes, if you want to see them after dark. Unlit, a glass front in a dark stained frame reads as black at night. Lit with GC LED CAB INT 48″ STRIP ($221.00) or a puck plus the driver and switch, it becomes the brightest thing on the wall.
- Is there a 39 inch high Cobblestone glass cabinet?
- Not on the live list. Glass units come at 30″, 36″ and 42″ high, and the diagonal corner at the same three heights, even though the solid Cobblestone uppers include 39″. Ask your designer before planning a 39″ run with a glass unit in it.
- What does the inside of a Cobblestone glass cabinet look like?
- Natural light wood veneer, the same interior as every Allure Galaxy box. Against the dark gray-brown stained frame it reads as a lighter wood inside a darker one. Line the back with a reeded or slatted panel if you want it to disappear.
- Should I buy glass uppers in Cobblestone for a two-tone kitchen?
- Only if the uppers are Cobblestone. In the common plan — dark bases and island, lighter uppers — glass fronts are uppers and come from the upper finish. Cobblestone glass suits an all-dark kitchen, a dark hutch or bar wall, or a dark upper corner.
- How much is a Cobblestone glass door wall cabinet?
- From $97.50 for 15″ × 30″ to $321.75 for 36″ × 42″. The 24″ diagonal corner units are $100.75–$139.75, and the 18″ × 60″ double-door unit is $188.50.
