Galaxy Dove loose parts by job phase: order day, delivery day, install week, punch list and turnover
Reviewed September 2026 · Captivating Cabinets
A builder running one plan through twenty units does not treat Galaxy Dove loose parts as a repair page; they are a line on the purchase order. Somewhere in these 273 listings — 183 carcass-only boxes, 78 shelves keyed to cabinet codes, nine pieces of loose hardware and three finish items — is a short kit that keeps a job moving when a forklift or a tenant’s mover does what they do. This article walks the list in the order a job meets it, then turns to the shop that hangs its own doors on these boxes.
Which spare cabinet parts should a builder stock per ten kitchens?
The cheapest parts on this page are the ones that stop a job — a missing clip, a lost bumper pad, a raw site-cut edge — each a few dollars to fix and a day lost if the part is not on the truck. So we ask repeat builders to add a consumables line to the cabinet order, sized to the number of kitchens. Captivating Pro exists for standing orders like this.
The table is our list for ten kitchens of a typical two-bedroom plan; a plan with refrigerator bays and tall end panels wants more banding.

That is $372.45 for ten kitchens, about $37 a unit, less than the first callback it prevents. The judgment call is a spare box: a GDV-W3030-BO at $247.00 covers the most common upper in most plans, and a builder who has ever left a run unfastened waiting on one wall says yes. Which restrictor fits — Compact or the LSB two-pack at $3.90 — depends on the hinge on your doors; we confirm it before anything ships.
Delivery day: a crushed carton is a box decision, and it has a clock on it
The label and the corners get photographed before anything moves.
Open every pallet the day it arrives, not the day the installer does. Photograph the carton and the label before anything moves, and if a corner is crushed, send us the code and the picture that day. Transit damage is a delivery claim, not a warranty case, and it gets harder with every day the pallet sits in a garage.
Then look at what broke. A racked side or split back with clean doors is what the carcass-only listing is for: the doors lift off their Blum Quick-Release hinges, the drawer fronts unclip from the Tandem glides, and both move onto a new box coded with the cabinet’s name plus -BO. A W3036 upper displays at $451.75 complete and $289.25 as a GDV-W3036-BO; a B30 base is $555.75 against $357.50; a DB24 three-drawer base $705.25 against $455.00. The box holds roughly 64 cents of every cabinet dollar, so it recovers about a third whenever the doors survived; dimensions are on the wall and base listings.
Three limits. The listing says no doors, no drawer fronts, no hardware, and we have not confirmed whether a drawer-bank carcass ships with its dovetailed drawer boxes; ask before ordering any DB code. Sink bases, talls and lazy susans have no carcass listing, so a crushed SB36 is a whole-cabinet replacement. And if the door is what got hurt, a box is money on the wrong half. A single box ships inside the same 7-day to 3-week window as a Galaxy order, usually the short end; hang the run around the gap loose until it lands.
Install week: edge banding and bumpers on an off-white run
Filler, end panel, light rail, toe kick: all trimmed on site, and every trimmed edge on a warm white run needs the factory band.
Dove is Fabuwood’s signature off-white, a soft white with a warm cast that reads as white until a brighter white sits against it. That clause is why the edge banding comes from here, not the hardware store. Every filler, scribe and end panel trimmed on site exposes core along the cut, and the reflex is white iron-on band from the aisle. On this finish that strip is the brighter white, at eye level, on the edge visitors face first. The GDV-EDGE-BAND coil at $7.15 is coloured to the finish; it goes in the installer’s bag before the first filler is cut.
The stem bumper at $0.65 is the push-in pad that keeps a door off the frame; pads shake loose in transit and installers pocket them, so forty for ten kitchens is not generous. Restrictor clips limit how far a Blum hinge opens, for doors that would swing into a wall return or a refrigerator handle. Fit them on the first door of each run and open every door once before the counters arrive.
Punch list: touching up a warm white under the tenant’s lights
A white touch-up pen is the wrong tool for this finish, and it fails in an unusual direction: the patch is too bright, so a nick invisible from across the room becomes a white speck on a warm white door. Paint-counter mixes fail the other way, drifting yellow or grey. The factory kit at $62.40 is the only thing we put on a Dove edge, for chips and scuffs, not refinishing.
Lighting decides whether the repair passes. Under warm bulbs at 2700–3000K this finish reads as a clean warm white and a factory patch disappears; under cool LEDs at 4000K and above the door drifts toward grey and a fresh patch can sit a shade off. Multi-unit jobs are where this bites, because punch happens under work lights, not the tenant’s fixtures. The third finish item, PSC at $45.50, is listed by code only; tell us the problem and we will confirm whether it is the part.
Turnover, year three: shelves by cabinet code, and when a failed box is a warranty question
A shelf goes missing between tenants more often than it breaks. Order the replacement by the cabinet it lives in — AS- plus the cabinet family and width — and it arrives finished on the visible faces and banded on the front edge. GDV-AS-W36 fits a standard-depth 36″ wall at $60.45; GDV-AS-B24 a 24″ base at $59.15; the 24″-deep refrigerator walls take GDV-AS-W3624D at $110.50; corner walls, angled ends and lazy susans each have their own listing, up to $204.75 for the LSB36 shelf. Clips are a separate line, four to a shelf, from $0.65 for one to $3.90 for six.
The -1, -2 and -3 suffixes are packs of the same shelf and do not discount — three 30″ wall shelves as GDV-AS-W30-3 run $143.00 against $45.50 each — so order the count the turnover needs. A shelf added where the box was never drilled will not sit.
A box that fails on its own — a joint letting go, a bottom sagging under ordinary use — is a conversation about the limited lifetime warranty before it is a purchase. A box a mover crushed or a tenant flooded is a -BO order, and the old fronts go straight onto it. Keep the old doors either way: on a repeat plan, good Dove doors are the cheapest spare you will ever hold.
Fabuwood boxes under your own doors: what a Dove face frame commits you to
The other steady buyer of carcasses is the shop that makes its own fronts. A -BO box is the assembled ½″ solid wood carcass with the natural veneer interior, dowel-and-glue and pocket-screw joinery, and a Dove face frame, about a third less than the cabinet: GDV-B30-BO at $357.50, GDV-DB30-BO at $542.75, the 48″ lift-up GDV-W481224LU-BO at $481.00. You supply doors, drawer fronts, hinges and glides, and on drawer codes you confirm the drawer boxes first.
The commitment is the frame. These are full-overlay cabinets, but a reveal of frame shows around every door and drawer front, and whatever front goes on is read against a warm off-white edge. A door with real distance from it — an Indigo or Timber slab, a black-stained rift oak — looks intended, the same two-tone logic that makes this finish the easy team player in the Galaxy line. A near-white front is the trap: a bright white slab on a Dove frame shows a warm line around every panel, the half-step that makes Dove quieter than Frost, and it reads as a matching error. If the front will be white, order it in Dove or order the complete cabinet.
Whatever the phase, the order is three items: the code from the label inside the cabinet, a photo, and the finish name. Send those and we can price it without a site visit.
Common questions
What spare cabinet parts should I keep on hand for an apartment building?
For ten kitchens: 30 shelf clips, 40 stem bumpers, three coils of edge banding, two touch-up kits, a pack of restrictor clips and a spare wall and base shelf, about $372 at displayed prices. Add a spare box in the plan’s most common upper, such as a GDV-W3030-BO at $247.00, if a stalled run costs more than that.
Does a Fabuwood carcass-only box come with hinges or drawer boxes?
No hinges, glides, doors or drawer fronts; the listing is the assembled, finished box alone. Whether a drawer-base carcass ships with its dovetailed drawer boxes is not stated; ask before ordering any DB code.
My cabinet arrived damaged. Is that a warranty replacement or do I buy a box?
Transit damage is a delivery claim, reported the day the pallet lands with a photo of the carton and label; the limited lifetime warranty is for the cabinet in service. If the doors are fine and the box is not, a -BO carcass at about 64 percent of the cabinet price is the usual fix.
Will a white touch-up pen work on off-white cabinets?
Not on this finish. Dove is a warm off-white, and a white pen leaves a patch that is too bright. The factory kit at $62.40 matches the finish as sprayed; test it under the permanent lights, because cool 4000K LEDs pull the door toward grey.
Can I put my own doors on Fabuwood cabinet boxes?
Yes. Order the cabinet code with -BO for the assembled box with a veneer interior and a Dove face frame, and add doors, fronts, hinges and glides. A contrasting slab reads as two-tone against that frame; a bright white front shows a warm line at every reveal.
How long do loose cabinet parts take to ship?
Inside the same 7-day to 3-week window as a full Galaxy order, usually toward the short end for a single item. Report shipping damage on delivery day and order the box the same week.
