Galaxy Indigo glass doors: the four places a navy glass upper belongs

Every one of the 25 Galaxy Indigo glass doors listings is a wall cabinet, and most Indigo kitchens keep their navy below the counter. That mismatch is the whole question on this page. A navy glass upper does not slot into a typical two-tone plan; it belongs to the specific projects where the blue goes up the wall. There are four of them, each is costed below, and after that comes the reason a warm wood interior glows harder behind a navy frame than behind any other Galaxy colour.
Glass-front cabinets for a navy dry bar or coffee bar

A bar wall is short, so the height choice matters more than the width. Tall 42″ units give a bar the proportions of a piece of furniture, and they bring the glass up to eye level. A 36″ unit leaves a band of wall above it on an 8-foot ceiling unless crown fills the gap. The stemware racks, GI STMW30 at $403.00 and STMW36 at $425.75, hang glasses beneath a 30″ or 36″ unit, so the display continues below the door.
A navy bar is a cool colour next to things that are mostly warm: brass taps, amber bottles, wood. That contrast is what makes it work. Brass pulls on the glass doors carry the same note, and the list’s Timber floating shelf between the two units does the same job in wood.
The butler’s pantry and the dining-room hutch
A butler’s pantry between the kitchen and dining room is the classic place for a run of glass. Here, unlike the main kitchen, three units in a row is fine: the pantry is a storage room meant to be looked into. Keep the heights identical so the tops line up, and pick the height from the ceiling rather than the plan. The list offers 30″, 36″, 39″ and 42″. The 39″ height is useful for an 8-foot ceiling with a stacked crown.
The 18″ × 60″ double-door unit, GI GDWD1860 at $188.50, is the one that turns a base run into a hutch. Two of them either side of a window or a mirror give a dining room a navy built-in for less than a single solid 36″ upper. Check the height first: counter height plus 60″ has to fit under the ceiling with room for any crown.
All 25 navy glass door cabinet sizes and prices
The SKU gives width then height: GDW2442 is 24″ wide and 42″ high. Five widths meet four heights, and the diagonal corner and the tall double-door unit sit outside that grid.
| Width | 30″ high | 36″ high | 39″ high | 42″ high |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 15″ | $97.50 | $117.00 | $126.75 | $139.75 |
| 18″ | $117.00 | $139.75 | $146.25 | $162.50 |
| 24″ | $165.75 | $201.50 | $107.25 | $234.00 |
| 30″ | $201.50 | $234.00 | $126.75 | $279.50 |
| 36″ | $234.00 | $279.50 | $146.25 | $321.75 |
| 24″ diagonal corner (GDWDC) | $100.75 | $117.00 | $126.75 | $139.75 |
The 18″ × 60″ double-door unit, GDWD1860, is $188.50. Notice the 39″ column: at 24″, 30″ and 36″ wide it lists below the 36″ height beside it. That is what the live list says today, but it breaks the pattern of every other row, so get those three lines confirmed on a written quote before you build a pantry around the saving. The wall and tall cabinet sizing guide explains which height suits which ceiling.
Why the wood interior glows inside a navy frame
The inside of every Allure Galaxy box is natural wood veneer, not paint. Behind a white frame that tan wood is a mild surprise. Behind a beige frame it is warm on warm. Behind navy it sits opposite the frame on the colour wheel, since blue and warm orange-brown are complements, and the contrast makes the interior look brighter than it is. A lit Indigo glass cabinet reads like a lantern set into a dark wall.
That is usually the effect people want, and the simplest choice is to leave the veneer alone. If you prefer a cooler look, line the back panel in white before the shelves go in: white dishes on white against a navy frame make a crisp, nautical box. That works in a pantry and can feel theme-like in the main kitchen, so try it on one cabinet first.
Lighting inside a navy glass cabinet
An unlit glass door on a navy wall is a black rectangle after sunset. The fixtures are on the cabinet accessories page: GI LED CAB INT 48″ STRIP at $221.00 for the inside of a tall or wide unit, the 2-1/4″ puck at $71.50 for a corner or a single shelf, the driver at $204.75 and the wireless switch at $221.00. Budget one driver per circuit.
Pick the colour temperature for two surfaces at once. Around 3000K keeps the veneer honey-coloured without pushing the navy frame toward violet, which very warm light can do. Cool 4000K light makes the veneer look gray and the frame look cold. The list does not state the temperature of any fixture, so ask your designer, or use the GI LED STRIP TUNABLE WHITE 10MM at $286.00 and set it in the room. Put the interior light on its own switch: it is display light, not task light.
Common questions
- Should I put navy glass cabinets in a white upper run?
- We would not. On a two-tone kitchen with navy lowers, every upper is ordered in the white collection, glass included. A single navy glass unit in a white run reads as a dark hole. Indigo glass belongs where the navy goes above the counter: a bar, a butler’s pantry, a hutch or an all-navy kitchen.
- What glass cabinets work for a navy coffee bar or dry bar?
- Two tall units usually suit a 60″ bar: two GI GDW3042 at $279.50 each is $559.00. The GI STMW30 stemware rack ($403.00) hangs under a 30″ unit, and an interior strip with a driver and switch lights them.
- What sizes do Indigo glass door cabinets come in?
- Widths of 15″, 18″, 24″, 30″ and 36″ in heights of 30″, 36″, 39″ and 42″ ($97.50–$321.75), a 24″ diagonal corner unit in the same four heights ($100.75–$139.75), and an 18″ × 60″ double-door unit at $188.50. That is 25 sizes in all.
- What is inside a Fabuwood glass cabinet?
- Natural wood veneer, the same interior as every Allure Galaxy box. It is not painted to match the frame. Against navy the warm wood contrasts strongly and looks bright when lit. Line the back panel in white before loading it if you want a cooler look.
- Can I build a dining-room hutch with Indigo glass cabinets?
- Yes. The 18″ × 60″ double-door GI GDWD1860 ($188.50) is tall enough to stand on a base run as a hutch. Two either side of a window cost $377.00. Check that counter height plus 60″ fits under your ceiling with room for crown.
- Why are the 39-inch glass cabinets cheaper than the 36-inch ones?
- At 24″, 30″ and 36″ wide the live list currently prices the 39″-high units at $107.25, $126.75 and $146.25, below their 36″ neighbours. It breaks the pattern of the other rows, so confirm those lines on a written quote before relying on them.
