Navy is a colour that commits the room, and on the range wall the largest thing it commits is the hood. The Galaxy Indigo hoods list offers five shell families in navy, four of them in Timber and two in Walnut, and each choice decides which of navy’s classic partners (white paint, white oak, walnut or more navy) leads the kitchen. The hardware metal follows from that. This page makes that choice first and prices it second.
Four hoods over a navy kitchen, and what each one commits you to

A hood is the biggest single object on the range wall, so its colour decides the wall. Over or beside Indigo there are four real options, and each points the rest of the room somewhere different.
| Hood | Where it comes from | Commits the room to | Works when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Navy (matched Indigo shell) | This page, all five families | A strong navy wall. Brass or unlacquered brass hardware to lift it, warm whites around it. | The perimeter is Indigo too, or the island is navy and you want the colour to repeat once above the counter |
| White (a painted shell) | The Frost, Dove or Linen hood list | A white range wall with the navy kept low. The hardware carries the link between the two. | A two-tone plan with white uppers, which is the most common Indigo kitchen |
| Timber | This page: chimney, slim, curved glass and designer families | White oak as the third material. Brass, a white oak floor and a marble-look quartz follow naturally. | Navy lowers and white uppers where the room needs some warmth |
| Walnut | This page: slim and curved glass families only | A dark, rich wall. Aged brass or bronze, and plenty of light. | A bright room with high ceilings. In a dim kitchen, walnut beside navy is dark on dark. |
Choose one warm wood only. If the hood is Timber, the LED bars and floating shelves stay in the standard finish or also go Timber. A Timber hood with Walnut shelves on the same wall is two woods fighting over navy.
Brass or nickel: let the hood settle it
Navy takes both metals, which is why the choice is so often left too late. Brass or gold warms the blue and suits Timber, warm whites and a white oak floor, and that is the classic navy kitchen. Brushed nickel, chrome and matte black keep it cool and crisp, and they suit a white hood, stainless appliances and a white or gray quartz.
The hood tips the balance. A Timber or Walnut shell is a warm object, and cool nickel pulls beneath it look like they came from another kitchen. A white or navy shell leaves both metals open, so the appliances decide: a stainless range and a stainless refrigerator argue for nickel, and a range with brass knobs argues for brass. Hold a pull against your Indigo door sample and the hood colour you are considering before you order either.
The five shell families as they are offered in Indigo
The RHA wall-mount is the plain one and comes in navy only: 36″ (GI RHA363021) at $2,418.00, 42″ at $2,502.50 and 48″ at $2,596.75. Its SKU gives width, height and depth, so 363021 is 36″ wide, 30″ high and 21″ deep. The chimney RHE comes in navy or Timber at 30″, 36″ and 42″ for $2,609.75 to $2,941.25. The slim RHS is the most flexible, in navy, Timber or Walnut at 30″, 36″ and 42″, for $2,785.25 to $3,159.00. The curved glass RHCA comes in all three colours at 36″, 42″ and 48″ for $3,532.75 to $4,062.50. The designer RHF comes in navy or Timber at 30″, 36″ and 42″ for $3,812.25 to $4,277.00.
Two things fall out of that. A wood tone costs nothing extra: every Timber and Walnut shell is priced the same as its navy twin. And if you want Walnut, you are choosing between the slim and the curved glass shapes, because those are the only two families that offer it. Only the RHA and RHCA reach 48″. The RHA is the only family that publishes its height and depth in the SKU; for the rest, ask your designer for the spec sheet, because the shell height sets the height of the uppers beside it.
A navy hood on a kitchen where the navy is only below the counter
This is the question most Indigo buyers bring, and it has a clear answer. On a lowers-only or island-only plan, a navy hood between white uppers is the one place the colour climbs the wall. It works when there is something to rhyme with. A navy island in front of the range, or navy lowers directly beneath the hood, make it read as intended. On a wall where the only navy is an island across the room, the hood floats as a dark shape with nothing holding it.
If it rhymes, carry the uppers’ crown profile across the navy shell so the wall still reads as one run. The white perimeter’s crown will be ordered from its own collection, so pick the same CM number in both lists. The decorative accessories page has the profiles.
How a dark painted shell lives over a cooktop
A painted hood sits in steam and grease. On navy, a greasy film shows as a dull patch against the flat paint, and a spatter dries as a pale speck. Neither is a reason to avoid it, but both are reasons to wipe the shell weekly with a mild cleaner and a soft cloth, and to wash the grease filter in the blower insert on time. The cabinet care guide covers what is safe on painted cabinets.
A dark shell also absorbs light. The list does not say whether the blower insert includes cooktop lights, so confirm that with your designer before relying on it. If it does not, plan task light for the cooktop in the ceiling. A navy range wall with no light over the burners is a gloomy place to cook, whatever the hood cost.
Three complete Indigo hoods, costed
The shell moves no air on its own. The blower is a separate line: GI RHBB 250 CFM at $419.25, 400 CFM at $903.50, or 600 CFM at $1,787.50. A shell and one blower make a complete hood vented outdoors, and any of the three fits every shell except the 48″ RHA483021, which does not take the 250. The GI RHBB DCT ($263.25), listed as a duct cover, is a recirculating kit for kitchens that cannot be ducted outside, with GI RHBB FLTR ($71.50) as its charcoal refill. Which blower you need depends on the cooktop, the duct run and whether the house needs make-up air. That is for your installer, and the range hood CFM guide explains the reasoning.
- Navy, plain: GI RHA363021 ($2,418.00) with the 250 CFM blower. Total $2,837.25.
- Timber over navy lowers: GI RHE36 TIMBER ($2,788.50) with the 400 CFM blower. Total $3,692.00.
- Walnut statement: GI RHCA42 WALNUT ($3,789.50) with the 600 CFM blower. Total $5,577.00.
The hood width follows the cooktop, never narrower and often one size wider, and mounting height comes from the appliance manual and local code. Both fix the wall cabinets beside the shell. If the range is not chosen yet, a free 3D design can hold the range wall open while the rest of the Indigo collection is drawn.
Common questions
- Should the range hood match navy cabinets?
- Match it in navy if the perimeter is Indigo or if navy lowers sit directly beneath the hood. With a navy island and white uppers, a white shell from the perimeter collection is the usual choice, and a Timber shell adds warmth. A navy hood with nothing navy nearby floats on the wall.
- What color hood goes with navy blue cabinets?
- Four work: navy (a matched Indigo shell), white (from the Frost, Dove or Linen list), Timber, which reads close to white oak, and Walnut, which suits bright rooms only. Timber and Walnut cost the same as the navy shell in every family that offers them.
- Brass or brushed nickel hardware with navy cabinets?
- Both suit navy. Brass warms it and goes with a Timber or Walnut hood, white oak and warm whites. Nickel keeps it crisp and goes with a white hood and stainless appliances. Let the hood decide: a wood shell calls for brass.
- Which Fabuwood hoods come in walnut with Indigo cabinets?
- The slim wall-mount RHS (30″, 36″ and 42″, $2,785.25–$3,159.00) and the curved glass RHCA (36″, 42″ and 48″, $3,532.75–$4,062.50). Timber is also offered on the chimney RHE and designer RHF families. The plain RHA is navy only.
- Is it hard to keep a navy painted hood clean?
- It needs regular care. Grease shows as a dull patch on flat dark paint, and spatter as pale specks. Wipe it weekly with a mild cleaner and a soft cloth, and wash the grease filter in the blower on schedule.
- How much does a complete Indigo range hood cost?
- From $2,837.25 (the 36″ RHA with a 250 CFM blower) to $5,577.00 for a 42″ Walnut curved glass shell with a 600 CFM blower. The shell alone never moves air: the blower is always a separate line.
