Galaxy Linen Glass Doors

The interior is natural wood veneer, the same as every other cabinet in the line. It is not painted, so there is no beige cube behind the glass. Wood veneer is itself a warm tan, which puts two adjacent warm tones inside one small rectangle: the beige frame and the wood behind it. In a kitchen that already runs warm — butcher block, an oak floor, cream quartz, brass pulls — that is coherent, and the glass front becomes the warmest point on the wall. In a kitchen that pairs Linen with cooler surfaces, the veneer can be one warm tone too many.

You have three options, and only one of them is easy once the cabinet is full.

Do it on an empty box. Lining a back panel takes ten minutes before the shelves go in and an afternoon after. Check the shelves as well: if they are the same veneer as the box, a white back behind tan shelves looks half-finished, and the shelf edges want the same treatment.

On a white kitchen glass fronts get used to break up a wall that would otherwise be one white plane. Linen does not have that problem: it reads as a color, and a run of it has presence on its own. So the reason to add glass here is different — it is a window, not relief — and the spots that work are the spots where a window makes sense.

• Flanking the range hood, one each side, at the same height as the neighbors. The wall reads symmetrical and the hood gains a frame. The hood lineup shows which shells carry crown across the top.
• The upper corner. A diagonal corner glass cabinet — GLN GDWDC2430 through GDWDC2442 — turns the least useful storage on the wall into the most visible display for $100.75–$139.75.
• A single tall column beside the refrigerator: GLN GDWD1860, the 18-inch-wide, 60-inch-tall double-door unit at $188.50, is a vertical of glass that keeps a refrigerator wall from being a slab.
• Not over the sink, not beside the trash pull-out, not where the cereal lives.

Two units, occasionally three. On a beige wall a row of four glass fronts reads as a china cabinet, which is a different kitchen from the one you are buying. If the household will not keep one cabinet tidy, the solid wall cabinet in the same size is the right call and nobody will miss the glass.

Every unit is a width and a height, and the SKU spells both: GDW3036 is the 30 by 36 glass door cabinet, 30″ wide by 36″ high. Five widths and four heights make the grid, and every cell below is on the live Fabuwood list today.

Read the 39″ column twice. At 24″, 30″ and 36″ wide the 39″-high unit lists below its 36″-high neighbor — $107.25 against $201.50 at 24″ wide, for instance. That is what the list says today; we quote from the live list, but we would confirm those three lines on a written quote rather than promise them. The 39″ height is worth knowing regardless: it is the size for an 8-foot ceiling with a soffit or a stacked crown, where 36″ leaves a band of wall and 42″ will not fit.

Then the two families outside the grid. Diagonal corner units at 24″ wide: $100.75, $117.00, $126.75 and $139.75 for 30″, 36″, 39″ and 42″ high. And the 18″ by 60″ double-door column at $188.50. Match the height to the solid uppers beside it so the glass unit shares a top line with the run instead of sitting a step above it — the wall cabinet sizing guide has the height logic.

A glass front without light is a dark square after sunset, and on a beige wall a dark square reads darker than it does on white because the surround is already a mid-tone. So light it. Here the color of the light matters twice. A cool 4000K strip inside the box turns veneer gray-brown and pulls the beige frame toward putty. A 2700–3000K strip keeps the veneer honey and the frame cream, and it is the only temperature we would put behind glass in this finish. The live list does not state a color temperature for the strip or the puck, so ask for the spec before ordering; the tunable strip, GLN LED STRIP TUNABLE WHITE 10MM at $286.00, is the one part where you set it yourself. And put the interior lights on their own switch. Display light at nine at night and task light at seven in the morning are different settings, and one switch cannot be both.
