Kitchen Cabinets in Fort Lauderdale & Broward

Cabinets for Broward condos and mid-century houses, planned in a free 3D design and delivered by tracked freight.

Nearly half of Broward County’s homes are in multi-unit buildings, so buying kitchen cabinets in Fort Lauderdale often starts with an association’s rules and a service elevator rather than a driveway. We are an online cabinet dealer in New Jersey without a Broward showroom. We turn your measurements into a free 3D design with a line-by-line quote in 24–48 hours and ship the order by tracked freight.

Fort Lauderdale names cabinet replacement in its HB 803 guide

The City of Fort Lauderdale lists “cabinet replacement” among jobs that can qualify for the state’s new permit exemption. The conditions: a single-family home, work under $7,500, no electrical, plumbing, mechanical, gas or structural work, and a lot that is not even partly in a flood hazard area. You file the Residential Permit Exemption Request (HB 803) form with a job-cost estimate through LauderBuild and wait for written approval before starting.[3]

That process stops at the city line. Pompano Beach takes its own Building Permit Exemption Request through the city’s ePlan portal and lists “cabinet replacement (no plumbing or electrical connections)” as qualifying work; Hollywood and the other Broward cities set their own rules.[5]

Condo units: the association comes first

The HB 803 exemption covers single-family homes only, so a condo kitchen follows the normal permit rules plus whatever the association requires. Associations commonly ask for an alteration application, the contractor’s license and insurance certificate, and set work hours. Get those rules in writing before you schedule delivery.

Houses from the 1960s and 1970s

Half of Broward’s housing predates 1980. In houses of that age, a soffit above the wall cabinets often hides ductwork or plumbing. Decide whether yours stays before you choose wall-cabinet heights: removing one can mean rerouting a duct, which is trade work with its own permit. Our designers can draw both versions.[2]

How delivery works in Fort Lauderdale

Broward orders arrive curbside on a freight truck, and a liftgate can be added when you book. For a high-rise, line up the loading dock and elevator reservation before choosing a date, and pass along the building’s receiving hours; the carrier phones 24–48 hours before arrival. Every brand ships from its own warehouses, and the quote lists the freight charge to your building.

The clock starts when you approve the order: KCD, Tribeca and J&K ship within 7–10 days, Fabuwood and Mantra in about two weeks, Diamond and Decorá are built to order in typically 4–6 weeks, and the trip usually takes 1–7 business days more. Assembled lines arrive boxed on shrink-wrapped pallets and RTA lines arrive flat-packed. In a condo, break the pallet down at the dock: single cartons fit an elevator, a whole pallet does not.

RTA or assembled: ordering for a Broward building

RTA cabinets ship unbuilt, as panels, cam locks and hinges in a flat carton; assembled lines arrive as finished boxes. With 29% of Broward homes in buildings of 20 or more units, the elevator usually makes the call. Flat cartons stack on a hand truck, while a built tall pantry may not fit the cab at all.[2]

What flat-pack saves in handling it costs in labor. This Old House reckons on 20–30 minutes for each box, and an association that limits work hours can stretch that over two days, so some owners build the cabinets in the living room the weekend before the installer arrives. J&K Cabinetry can ship flat-pack, which is one reason it suits a tight building.[4][6]

Common questions

Does Fort Lauderdale require a permit to replace kitchen cabinets?

Not always. The city lists cabinet replacement as work that can qualify for the HB 803 exemption on a single-family home outside a flood hazard area, under $7,500 and with no trade work, once you file the exemption form and receive written approval. Condos do not qualify for that exemption.

Will the cabinets fit in my building’s service elevator?

Assembled cabinets come in individual cartons on a pallet, RTA lines come flat-packed, and tall pantry units are the ones to check. Send the elevator cab’s height, width and depth with your quote request and we will flag anything that will not fit.

What sales tax applies to cabinets delivered in Broward?

For 2026, 7%: the state’s 6% and Broward County’s 1% surtax.

Can you recommend an installer in Broward?

We don’t install cabinets or arrange installation; installation through our sister company, Captivating Construction Group, is available only in New Jersey. For plumbing, electrical or gas changes, hire licensed trades and verify them on Florida DBPR’s license lookup.

Does Fort Lauderdale’s HB 803 process cover Pompano Beach or Hollywood?

No. The city’s guide applies inside Fort Lauderdale only. Pompano Beach runs its own exemption request through its ePlan portal, and Hollywood and the other Broward cities have their own building departments, so ask the one that covers your address.
