Kitchen Cabinets in Fort Myers & Cape Coral

Cabinets for Lee County homes, planned around flood-zone rules and shipped by tracked freight after a free 3D design.

Most kitchen cabinets in Fort Myers and Cape Coral go into houses that are young by national standards: half of Cape Coral’s homes were built in 2002 or later. That changes the job. You are usually updating a builder-grade layout rather than rescuing a 1950s kitchen, and the bigger questions are flood-zone rules and timing. We are an online dealer in New Jersey with no Lee County store; we design your kitchen in 3D for free, quote it line by line in 24–48 hours, and ship it by tracked freight.

Lee County rules and numbers to know first

Why the $7,500 permit exemption rarely helps in Cape Coral

HB 803 lets a single-family owner skip the building permit for work under $7,500 with no trade work, but not on a lot that is even partly in a flood hazard area. The City of Cape Coral says more than 60% of the city lies in a FEMA Special Flood Hazard Area, so the exemption will not cover most projects there. Plan on a permit unless the city confirms your lot is outside the zone.[3]

The 50% rule in unincorporated Lee County

In a flood zone, a project costing half the building’s value triggers full flood-code compliance, and FEMA’s own worksheet counts built-in cabinets toward that total. Unincorporated Lee County measures against the structure’s assessed value from the Property Appraiser and accepts a licensed appraisal instead. In the Special Flood Hazard Area it also requires new construction to sit one foot above FEMA’s base flood elevation.[5][7]

Choosing boxes for a canal-front house

FEMA’s flood-resistant materials bulletin rates wood and particleboard built-in cabinets “unacceptable” below the base flood elevation, so no wood cabinet makes a ground-level kitchen flood-proof. What you can control is everyday water: a plywood sink base, a sealed toe kick and a leak tray under the sink. If the house sits empty in summer, keep the AC running, because cabinet warranties assume year-round climate control.[6][8]

How delivery works in Fort Myers

Freight to Lee County is priced on your quote before you pay. Delivery is curbside, with a liftgate on request, and every brand ships from its own warehouse network. Sanibel, Fort Myers Beach and Pine Island addresses need a note on the order so the carrier can plan the truck and the call-ahead.

KCD, Tribeca and J&K cabinets typically ship 7–10 days after your order, Fabuwood and Mantra about two weeks after, and built-to-order Diamond or Decorá boxes in typically 4–6 weeks. Either way, budget roughly 1–7 business days for the truck; your quote confirms it. If you are rebuilding after storm damage, time the order so cabinets land after drywall and before the countertop template, and keep the cartons inside in air conditioning, not in a hot garage.

RTA cabinets for Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Bonita Springs

Ready-to-assemble cabinets come as flat-packed panels you build on site, and they suit Lee County’s housing well: 84.5% of Cape Coral homes are single-family, usually with a driveway where a liftgate can set the cartons down. Carry them straight into the air-conditioned house and build the boxes on the living-room floor.[2]

This Old House’s rule of thumb is 20 to 30 minutes of assembly per box. On a canal home being rebuilt after a storm, that work can happen while you wait on drywall, so the cabinets are ready to hang as soon as the walls are.[9]

Bonita Springs, at the county’s south end, gets the same freight and the same 6.5% Lee County rate. The city’s own Community Development department has handled its building permits and records since mid-2008, so permit questions there go to the city rather than to Lee County.[1][11]

Bathroom vanities in Fort Myers and Cape Coral

Close to one Lee County home in five (18.1%) is kept for seasonal use, and a bath shut up for the summer is where moisture builds first. Set the AC to hold humidity while you are away instead of switching it off.[10]

Before ordering, measure the drain height and the distance to the side wall. A vanity the same width as the old one keeps the plumbing where it is. Florida law bars local governments from requiring a license for cabinetry work, but moving the drain is plumbing, with its own permit.[12]

Common questions

Do I need a permit to replace cabinets in Cape Coral?

Probably, if your lot is in a flood zone, and most of the city is. The state’s $7,500 exemption excludes flood hazard areas and any plumbing, electrical, gas, mechanical or structural work. Cape Coral’s Permitting Services Division can confirm for your address.

What sales tax applies to cabinets delivered in Lee County?

Six and a half percent: Florida’s 6% plus Lee County’s 0.5% surtax for 2026. Collier County next door has no surtax, so a Naples delivery is taxed at 6%.

Can you deliver to Sanibel, Pine Island or Fort Myers Beach?

Yes. Tell us about bridges, gate codes, raised driveways or stilt-home stairs when you request the quote so the delivery is planned around them.

Who installs the cabinets?

You choose. We don’t install cabinets, and installation through our sister company, Captivating Construction Group, is available only in New Jersey. Florida does not allow local governments to require a separate cabinetry license, but plumbing, electrical and gas work still need licensed trades; check any contractor on the state DBPR license lookup.

Do you deliver to Cape Coral and Bonita Springs?

Yes, both, on the same freight lane as Fort Myers, and both carry Lee County’s 6.5%. Each city issues its own building permits, and in Cape Coral the flood map makes a permit the likely answer.
