Galaxy Linen Wall Cabinets

A white upper can go to the ceiling in any room because it reflects whatever light there is. A beige upper absorbs a little, and the more wall you cover with it the more the room takes on its warmth — either exactly what you want, or the reason a north-facing kitchen feels closed in. People searching for cream kitchen wall cabinets land here often, and the honest answer is that this finish sits a shade past cream: a true beige, and the difference shows most at the uppers, where the color is at eye height and lit from the window. So the height question starts with the room, not the ceiling.

The arithmetic behind those rows is the usual one — counter at 36″, an 18″ backsplash gap, so the uppers start at 54″ and a 30″ box tops out at 84″ — and the wall cabinet sizing guide works it through for any ceiling. What the arithmetic cannot tell you is how a wall of warm color will feel in your particular light, which is why the collection page spends so long on window direction and bulbs.

Height is also cheap, which is worth knowing before you talk yourself out of it. One width — 30″, the most common double-door wall — up the whole ladder, with where each height goes.

From 30″ to 42″ adds around 37% on a 30″ cabinet for 40% more cabinet — on a run of four or five uppers, a modest line on the quote for a shelf you will need a step for and a run that meets the ceiling with no dust ledge. The 42″ height is the one people search for by name, and it spans the width range from GL W0942 (a 9″ single door) to GL W3942 (the widest 39″ box). Whether it is worth it is the light question above, not the money. Linen is not priced online, so the exact figures come on your quote.

The best tool for keeping a beige wall run from reading as a solid block is to open part of it. Every Galaxy box has a natural wood veneer interior, and inside a beige frame that warm wood looks intentional — the same family of color, one step deeper — where inside a cool white frame it can look like the cabinet forgot to be painted.

Three families do it, and the sub-type names say what is finished. The open shelf boxes (GL WOS1830 up to GL WOS3042) have no door and a finished, matching interior. The no-door wall boxes (GL NDW1530 up to GL NDW3642) are a standard wall cabinet supplied without a door and finished inside to match. And the no-door corner (GL NDWDC2430 up to the 42″ height) is the diagonal corner upper opened as a display box. All three cost more than the closed cabinet of the same size — GL NDW3030 quotes about a fifth above GL W3030 — because an interior that will be looked at has to be finished.

Then glass. A standard wall cabinet fitted with a glass door keeps the frame in the beige and shows the wood interior through it — the quietest version of the same idea, and the one to reach for if a cream glass-front upper is the picture in your head. One or two glass fronts flanking a window or hood is usually enough; the glass door guide covers which glass types suit a warm interior. The wall ends finish the last box in the run as an angled face or an open shelf rather than a flat beige side.

Under-cabinet lighting is where the bulb meets the beige, and it decides whether the finish looks the way it did on the sample. The strip sits behind a light rail along the bottom edge of the uppers and lights three things at once: the backsplash, the counter, and — by reflection off both — the doors above.

Warm strips at 2700–3000K flatter this color; the door reads creamy and the counter, if it is a warm one, hands the light back up. Cool strips at 4000K and above strip the warmth out, and if the counter is gray they bounce gray light onto the doors, which is the muddy look the finish gets blamed for. Specify the color temperature yourself; do not leave it to whatever the electrician has on the truck. The cabinet lighting on the accessories page is the program made for these boxes.

The light rail itself is painted to match, as are the crown that meets the ceiling and the end panels that finish an exposed side — all under decorative accessories. On a beige run the rail matters twice: it hides the strip, and it gives the bottom edge of the uppers a shadow line that keeps the color from bleeding into the backsplash. The molding guide shows which rail profiles actually conceal an LED channel.

A white finish can surround a white fridge and disappear. A beige cannot — the box around the appliance is visibly another color, so the goal is to make that look framed rather than mismatched. The cabinets that do it are sized to the appliance, and their codes carry all three dimensions.

• Refrigerator wall cabinets — 30″, 33″ and 36″ wide, 12″ to 24″ high, and 24″ deep so the box sits flush with the fridge face instead of the standard 12″ upper depth. GL W301524 is 30″ wide, 15″ high and 24″ deep; the range runs from GL W361224 to GL W362424. Measure the fridge including hinge clearance, and add a side panel on any exposed side.
• Microwave wall cabinets — GL MW3018 is the open shelf-and-box for a countertop unit over a range; the GL MC30xx21 series are 30″ × 21″ cabinets built for a built-in microwave, with the third number pair the overall height.
• Appliance wall — GL WAC3018, the 30″ × 18″ cabinet for a specific over-range appliance. Have the model number.
• Lift-up wall cabinets — GL W421224LU and GL W481224LU, 42″ and 48″ wide, 12″ high and 24″ deep, with a single top-hinged door. Over a fridge or in a tight aisle where a swinging door would meet someone’s head.
• Wall with drawers — GL WD1848 through GL WD1860, 18″-wide cabinets 48″ to 60″ tall with drawers at the bottom, for a counter-height stack beside a fridge or oven tower.

The framing rule: make the beige around the appliance deliberate. A refrigerator cabinet at the fridge’s depth, beige side panels on both flanks and a filler rather than a raw gap, and the white or stainless box reads as set into the run. Leave the sides unfinished or the depth short and it reads as a cabinet that happens to be near a fridge.

An upper corner has three answers, quoted close together. The diagonal and pie-cut corner walls — GL WDC2430 for the diagonal, GL WPC2430 for the pie-cut with its bi-fold door — turn the corner with an angled or folded face and keep the inside reachable. The blind wall — GL WBC2430 up to GL WBC3642 — is a plain box pushed into the corner with a filler, cheapest and with the same buried third as its base equivalent. In a beige run the diagonal corner has one extra merit: its angled door catches light from two directions, which breaks up a long stretch of color better than a flat one does.

The specialty pieces make a wall run look designed rather than assembled: wine racks as 6″ columns between cabinets or wider lattice boxes, the shallow 30″ and 36″ wall organizers, and the single-door walls from 9″ to 21″ wide (GL W0930 up to GL W2142) are the narrow boxes that land a run on a wall, doing the same closing-out job the narrow bases do below.

Every one of them arrives assembled, with Blum Blumotion soft-close hinges already on the doors — soft close is not a line item to add. Measure ceiling height at both ends of the run and in the middle before choosing between 36″ and 42″ (the pre-order dimensions list has the rest), then send the elevation to the design team, who will draw the wall with the lighting in it so you see the beige lit before it is built.
