Sixty inches: a bathroom number that no kitchen cabinet reaches

Reviewed September 2026 · Captivating Cabinets

Sixty inches is off the end of the cabinet grid. Kitchen widths step in threes and stop at 48″, so nothing on the base, wall or tall lists comes near this number. Five units carry it, and they belong to two entirely different conversations: two vanity combinations built as single pieces because bathrooms are sold that way, and three lit floating shelves. That is the whole width.

Why the kitchen lists are empty at 60″

Cabinets are shipped, carried through doorways and hung on walls, and past a certain span each of those gets harder while the storage gained gets less useful. The catalog draws that line at 48″. A 60″ run in a kitchen is therefore built, not bought: 24″ plus 36″, 30″ plus 30″, or 48″ plus 12″ with a filler taking up the tolerance.

Making two boxes read as one is straightforward if you plan it. Run a single countertop over both, align the drawer heights, and put the joint where a door edge would fall anyway — under a stile, not under a handle. Detailed that way, a 30″ plus 30″ pair looks deliberate, and every roll-out and insert in the catalog still fits, which no 60″ box would allow.

Two 60″ vanities, and the price gap that surprises people

VSD60DOUBLE displays at $1,046.50 and VSD60SINGLE at $1,196.00. The double-bowl version is $149.50 cheaper, which is the opposite of what most people expect from a cabinet with two sinks in it.

Our reading is that you are paying for casework, not for bowls. The single gives the space the second bowl would occupy to a bank of drawers, and drawers cost more than doors at every width on the grid — a 12″ three-drawer base runs $617.50 against $364.00 for the door version. Confirm the interior layout of both before ordering.

The only other thing built at this width

Three lit floating shelves, LED-FLS60 at $1,027.00 in two wood tones and the walnut version at $1,098.50. At five feet they are a piece of architecture rather than an accessory: they need solid blocking behind the drywall to carry a cantilevered load and a power feed at the right point, both decided before the wall is closed.

They turn up over a range, along a dining wall, or above a vanity in place of an upper cabinet. Used well they are the one thing on this page that justifies the width — a 60″ shelf reads as a single continuous line in a way two 30″ shelves never will, and unlike a cabinet, nothing about it gets harder as it gets longer except the fixing.

Building a 60″ run out of standard boxes

Three combinations do it cleanly. Thirty plus 30 gives symmetry and puts the joint dead centre, which suits a window above. Thirty-six plus 24 puts the sink in the wider box and the dishwasher or the drawers in the narrower one. Forty-eight plus 12 gives one big cabinet and a narrow drawer tower, which is the choice when one large object has to fit.

Whichever you pick, order the boxes together under a single top. And check the 36″ page before committing: most 60″ problems turn out to be 36″-plus-something problems.

Common questions

Is there a 60 inch kitchen cabinet?
No. Kitchen widths stop at 48″. A 60″ run is built from two boxes — 30 plus 30, 36 plus 24, or 48 plus 12 — under one countertop, with a filler absorbing the wall tolerance.
Why is the 60 inch double vanity cheaper than the single?
The double displays at $1,046.50 and the single at $1,196.00. The single puts a drawer bank where the second bowl would go, and drawers cost more to build than doors — the same premium shows up at every width on the grid.
Is a 60 inch vanity big enough for two sinks?
It works, but 60″ divides into two 30″ halves, which is about the minimum per bowl and leaves almost no usable counter between them. If the room is not genuinely shared at the same time of day, the single-bowl version with its drawers is the better buy.
What is the widest bathroom vanity available?
Sixty inches, in the two sink-and-drawer combinations. Below that the vanity list runs 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36, 42 and 48″.
How do you install a 60 inch floating shelf?
With blocking. A five-foot lit shelf is a cantilevered load and needs solid framing behind the drywall plus a power feed brought to the right point, both settled before the wall closes. The three units at this width display at $1,027.00 and $1,098.50.
