Wood, walnut or plain, warm or cool: lighting Galaxy Pistachio Green cabinets
Reviewed September 2026 · Captivating Cabinets
Lighting on a green kitchen is a colour decision in disguise. The fixtures decide how much light lands on the worktop, but the housing is a visible material under every wall cabinet and the colour of the light decides what the green looks like after dark. The lighting list for Galaxy Pistachio Green offers undercabinet bars in three housings, puck sets for every wall width, an interior strip and a tunable strip — and one listing quirk that needs clearing up before anything is ordered.
One code, listed under two names
The undercabinet light bars on this page carry codes such as GPG LED FLS36. The same codes, at exactly the same prices, also appear in the decorative accessories as LED floating shelves: GPG LED FLS36 is a 36-inch undercabinet LED light bar on one listing and a 36-inch LED floating shelf on the other. FLS reads naturally as floating shelf.
That matters, because an undercabinet bar is a slim fixture fixed under a wall cabinet, and a floating shelf with integral lighting is a shelf fixed to a wall with a light beneath it. They are installed differently and they look different. Before an FLS code goes on an order, ask us which product arrives and what it mounts to. If it is the shelf, it belongs with the floating shelves in the plan rather than under a cabinet, and a run with open shelving between uppers is where it fits.
Standard, Timber or Walnut against a sage door

The bars come in three housings from 24 to 60 inches. Standard and Timber are priced identically at every length — $487.50 at 24 inches up to $1,027.00 at 60 — and Walnut costs more, $585.00 to $1,098.50. On a white or grey kitchen the housing is a detail. Under green it is part of the palette, because warm wood is one of the partners this sage is best with.
Standard, to disappear
Choose it where the light should be felt and not seen: a kitchen where the pairing work is already being done by the worktop, the floor and the hardware. The housing finish is not described on the listing; ask what it looks like if it will be visible from a seat.
Timber, to echo oak
Timber is the obvious choice in a green kitchen that already has light wood: an oak floor, a butcher-block island top, oak open shelves. A thin line of wood tone under the uppers ties the upper run to those surfaces. It shares its name with Galaxy Timber, the line’s wood-look finish; whether it is the same finish is not stated, so compare it against a sample if you plan to match the two. It costs nothing extra over Standard.
Walnut, for contrast
Walnut suits a darker, richer scheme: green with walnut shelves, deep brass hardware, a darker floor. Against a muted sage the dark wood reads as a deliberate line rather than a detail. It costs $71.50 to $146.25 more per bar depending on length, and our wood species guide explains why walnut and oak sit so differently beside the same colour.
What the colour of the light does to a greyed green
This green is a muted grey-sage: a green with a lot of grey in it. General colour behaviour says that greyed colours are the ones most easily pushed around by light, because there is less pure colour in them to hold their ground. Warm, yellowish light tends to push greys toward yellow, and in a greyed green that can read as a slide toward olive or khaki. Cooler light tends to strip the warmth out, and the same green can then read closer to a plain grey. Neither is wrong. They are simply different rooms.
Undercabinet light is mostly reflected light by the time it reaches the doors, so the worktop colour matters too: a cream quartz sends warmth back up, a white one sends back roughly what it receives. That is why our matching guide treats counter and cabinet as one decision.
The only way to know which version of the green you will see is to look. Take a door sample home, lay it on your worktop sample under the bulbs you have, after dark, then again in daylight. If the evening version looks too yellow, you want a cooler fixture; if it looks too grey and flat, a warmer one.
Lighting the wood inside the glass boxes
This finish lists 19 glass-ready doors, and any of them turns a box into a display. The Allure specification lists a natural wood veneer finished interior, so a lit glass cabinet shows warm wood inside a green frame. GPG LED CAB INT 48" STRIP at $221.00 is the fixture made for the inside of a box. One per glass cabinet is the usual count; a very tall or very wide one may want two.
The glass doors describe themselves as an open frame that accepts glass, so confirm what arrives before ordering, and see the glass doors list for sizes. Interior light is what makes glass worth having after dark; a glass door on an unlit box at night is a dark rectangle.
Undercabinet light does not reach every green cabinet
Undercabinet fixtures light the worktop and, by reflection, the doors just above and below it. That is fine in an all-green kitchen. It is worth thinking through in the two layouts where this colour most often goes.
Green lowers under light uppers: the fixtures sit under the light cabinets and throw light down onto the counter, and the green base doors receive only what bounces off the worktop. They will read darker and more muted at night than by day, which many people like — the lowers recede and the counter glows. If you want the green to hold its colour after dark, a light worktop helps more than a brighter fixture.
A green island: there are no uppers above an island, so nothing on this list lights it. Its colour after dark is set by the pendants or ceiling lights over it, which are outside the cabinet order. Choose those with the same sample test in mind, because the island is often the single largest block of green in the room and the one people sit facing.
Puck sets, when the budget is going elsewhere
The puck sets are matched to wall cabinet widths and cost far less than bars. They give pools of light with shade between them rather than an even wash. Some people like that rhythm under a run of coloured doors and some find it patchy; if you chop and read at the counter, the continuous wash of a bar is the better tool, and pucks are the better buy where the worktop is mostly for show.
| Code | For a cabinet of | Price |

| GPG LED W09 | 9″ | $74.75 |
| GPG LED W12 | 12″ | $84.50 |
| GPG LED W15 | 15″ | $91.00 |
| GPG LED W18 | 18″ | $97.50 |
| GPG LED W21 | 21″ | $104.00 |

| GPG LED W33 | 33″ | $136.50 |
| GPG LED W36 | 36″ | $146.25 |
| GPG LED W39 | 39″ | $152.75 |
A single GPG LED 2-1/4" PUCK is $71.50 for filling a gap. Whether each set brings its own power supply or runs from a shared driver is not stated on the listings, so ask before costing the run. The parts that serve every route are GPG LED DRIVER at $204.75, GPG LED WLS SWITCH at $221.00 and, where separate runs must be joined, GPG LED MESH CONNECTOR at $201.50. A wireless switch is the practical choice in a kitchen whose walls are already finished.
Set any fixture toward the front of the cabinet underside so the light lands where you work, and check from a seat that the source is hidden; a light rail moulding in the finish shields it and keeps the green line of the upper run unbroken. The full lighting list has every fixture.
Common questions
- What colour light is best for sage green cabinets?
- It depends on how you want the green to read. As a general rule, warm light pushes a greyed green toward olive and cool light pushes it toward grey. Test a door sample on your worktop sample under your own bulbs, or use a tunable strip such as GPG LED STRIP TUNABLE WHITE 10MM at $286.00.
- Should under-cabinet lights have a wood housing with green cabinets?
- Wood suits green well. Timber echoes oak floors and butcher-block tops and costs the same as Standard; Walnut gives a darker contrast line and costs $71.50 to $146.25 more per bar. Standard is for when the light should disappear.
- Is an LED floating shelf the same as an undercabinet light bar?
- On this finish the FLS codes appear under both names at the same prices — GPG LED FLS36 is listed as a 36-inch light bar and as a 36-inch LED floating shelf. Ask us which product arrives and how it mounts before ordering.
- How do you light the inside of glass cabinets?
- With an interior strip: GPG LED CAB INT 48" STRIP at $221.00 is made for the inside of a box. Galaxy interiors are natural wood veneer, so a lit glass cabinet shows warm wood inside the green frame.
- How much are puck lights for a 30-inch cabinet?
- GPG LED W30 is $130.00 for a 30-inch wall cabinet. Sets run from $74.75 for a 9-inch cabinet to $152.75 for a 39-inch one; add a driver and switch if the run needs them.
