A Galaxy Cobblestone side panel is a platform: choosing one by the floor it will stand on
Reviewed September 2026 · Captivating Cabinets
Every listing on this page puts something under a vanity, not beside it. The Galaxy Cobblestone side panel codes, GC SPF V24 through GC VPCF TP1821, are plinths: a low base the cabinet stands on, either flat or with feet fitted at the corners. With a pale finish that choice is mostly about height and style. With a dark gray-brown one it is about the floor, because a plinth drags the darkest part of the room down to where the tile or the boards begin, and whether that looks planned depends almost entirely on what is underfoot.
Why the listings say side panel when the part is a platform
The product photographs show a shaped base with a vanity sitting on it, and Fabuwood's spec book files these codes under platforms. The letters spell it out: SP is the shaker profile, VP the Vera profile with a little more shaping, and the suffix names the foot. F alone means flat with no feet; TF adds taper feet; CF adds cove feet. Our store feed turned those suffixes into "Side Panel Tall" and "Side Panel Shaker", which describes nothing on the part.
So if you came here to cover the raw side of a cabinet, you need a finished end, which is ordered by the cabinet's height and depth and quoted separately. Ask your designer for that one. Everything below is for people putting a dark vanity on a base.
A dark brown vanity platform on wood, pale tile or dark tile

Fabuwood pitches this finish as a cross between traditional brown and transitional dark gray. At floor level the brown half does most of the work, because the floor is where warm and cool materials argue hardest.
| Floor | What the plinth does | Our pick |
|---|---|---|
| Mid or light oak, walnut-look plank | The gray-brown shares an undertone with the wood, so the base looks like part of a piece of furniture standing on boards. | Footed platform. This is the pairing the finish is best at. |
| White or pale warm tile, marble-look porcelain | Strong contrast; the plinth becomes a crisp dark line and the whole vanity reads as a single object. | Flat platform if the room is small, footed if there is space to walk round it. |
| Cool gray or charcoal tile | The brown in the stain shows up against the gray and can look muddy where the two meet. | Skip the platform and keep the recessed toe kick, which stays in shadow. |
| Black or near-black tile | Plinth and floor merge; the vanity looks as if it grows out of the ground. | Toe kick, or feet only, so there is visible floor under the box. |
The grain is the other half of it. Because the stain lets the wood figure through, a plinth next to a real wood floor shows two grains at right angles to each other. On oak that reads as craft. On a busy wood-look porcelain with a printed repeat, it can look like the tile is imitating the cabinet, so keep the plinth flat and low there.
What each platform costs, matched to the vanity above it
All six code families come in the same seven sizes. Profile and foot shape do not change the price; only the width and whether feet are fitted do.
| Vanity it carries | Flat (SPF / VPF) | With feet (TF / CF) |
|---|---|---|
| 24″ — V24 | $217.75 | $386.75 |
| 30″ — V30 | $234.00 | $406.25 |
| 36″ — V36 | $253.50 | $422.50 |
| 42″ — V42 | $269.75 | $442.00 |
| 48″ — V48 | $289.25 | $455.00 |
| 60″ — V60 | $321.75 | $490.75 |
| 18″ × 21″ bath tall — TP1821 | $409.50 | $578.50 |
For scale: the 36″ vanity sink base in this finish, GC VSB36-34, is $490.75, so a flat platform adds roughly half the cabinet price and a footed one close to its whole price. The tall-cabinet platform is the dearest of the set even though it is the narrowest; the catalog gives no reason, so ask your designer if it matters to your plan.
The dust line at the bottom of a dark plinth
A dark stained base at floor level collects the pale things a bathroom produces: lint from towels, talc, the fine gray film a mop leaves when it dries. On a white vanity those vanish; on this one they sit along the bottom edge of the platform as a visible line. A recessed toe kick hides the same dust in shadow.
That is a cleaning habit, not a reason to avoid the part. A dry microfibre pass along the plinth when you wipe the counter keeps it from building up, and the grain helps: small scuffs from a vacuum head show much less on a grained stain than on a flat paint. Our cabinet care guide has the products that are safe on this finish.
Putting it on the order
Order the platform on the same line as the vanity it carries, with matching size codes, so a change of width updates both. Stand a Cobblestone door sample ($25.00) on the actual floor first, in the room, and look at the join from standing height. That tells you more about the plinth than any photo.

Common questions
- Is a Galaxy vanity side panel an end panel?
- No. These codes are platforms that sit under the vanity, flat or with feet. A finished end panel for an exposed cabinet side is a separate part priced by height and depth; ask your designer to quote it.
- Does a dark vanity on a platform work with a wood floor?
- Usually very well. Cobblestone has a brown undertone that shares warmth with oak and walnut tones, so a footed base reads as furniture standing on the boards rather than a dark block.
- Should I put a dark vanity platform on gray tile?
- We would keep the toe kick instead. Against cool gray, the brown in the stain can look muddy at the join, and a recessed kick keeps that edge in shadow.
- How much does a vanity platform cost in Cobblestone?
- Flat platforms run $217.75 for a 24″ vanity to $321.75 for a 60″; footed ones $386.75 to $490.75. The bath tall platform is $409.50 flat and $578.50 with feet.
- Does dust show on a dark vanity base?
- Pale dust, lint and mop residue do show along the bottom edge of a dark plinth. A quick dry wipe handles it, and the visible grain hides small scuffs better than a flat paint would.
- How tall does a vanity get on a footed platform?
- The footed platform is listed at 5″, which on a 34½″ box with a top gives about 41″. Confirm the intended box and platform pairing with your designer before ordering.
