Five ways to spend 24 inches of bathroom wall
Reviewed September 2026 · Captivating Cabinets
More configurations are offered at twenty-four inches than at any other bath width, including the single wall cabinet in the entire range. That makes this the width to understand properly, because the same wall can become a compact vanity, a drawer tower, or a cupboard over a toilet depending on which of five boxes you order.
The five units
Four of them are floor cabinets on the standard bath carcass — 34 1/2" high, 21" deep. The fifth is not a base at all.
| SKU | What it is | Where it goes | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| VSB24-34 | Sink base — shelf omitted, back open for plumbing | A compact single vanity | $438.75 |
| VB24FD | One full-height door | Beside the vanity, or as a standalone cupboard | $438.75 |
| VB24-34 | Drawer over door | The general-purpose bath cabinet | $484.25 |
| WVS2430 | Wall cabinet, 24" wide by 30" high | Over a toilet, or flanking a mirror | $490.75 |
| VDB24-34 | Full drawer stack | The sorted-storage column beside a sink | $760.50 |
The only wall cabinet in the bath range
WVS2430 is worth knowing about because there is nothing else like it here: a 24"-wide, 30"-high wall unit intended for bath duty. It is the standard answer to the empty wall above a toilet and to the pair of shallow cupboards either side of a mirror.
Two things to confirm before ordering. First the depth — the dataset gives width and height, so check the published depth on the spec sheet and hold it against the clearance you need over a cistern. Second the mounting height: anything above a toilet should clear the tank lid with room to lift it, which in practice means the bottom of the cabinet sits well above where a kitchen wall cabinet would.
Is 24 inches enough for a vanity
For a powder room, a guest bath or a second bathroom used by one person at a time, comfortably. For a bathroom two adults share every morning, no — the counter gives you nowhere to put anything down, and under the bowl the trap has already taken the middle.
The upgrade path from here is not always a wider sink cabinet. Adding a 12" or 15" drawer column beside this box costs less than jumping to a 36" sink base and produces far more usable storage, because drawers beside a bowl beat shelves under one every time.
Four characters apart
Ordering the full-height door version for a sink. The two prices are identical, the SKUs differ by four characters, and the difference only becomes obvious when a plumber finds a solid cabinet floor where the trap needs to go. Read the SKU, not the price.
The other one is the drawer stack. At $760.50 it is the most expensive box at this width by a wide margin, and in a small bathroom it is usually the right buy anyway — but do not order it as the vanity. It has no plumbing preparation. It is the cabinet next to the vanity.
Common questions
- Is 24 inches a standard vanity size?
- It is one of the standard small sizes, and the usual choice for a powder room or a single-user bathroom. The most common main-bathroom width is 30", with 36" and 48" above it.
- What size cabinet goes over a toilet?
- The bath wall unit here is 24" wide and 30" high, which suits the wall above a standard toilet. Mount it high enough that the cistern lid lifts clear, and confirm the cabinet depth against how far the tank projects.
- How much is a 24 inch vanity cabinet?
- The sink base and the full-height door base both display at $438.75, drawer-over-door at $484.25, the wall unit at $490.75 and the full drawer stack at $760.50.
- Can two people share a 24 inch vanity?
- Not well. There is no counter to spare beside the bowl and no drawer storage underneath. If the wall allows 36" or more, take it; if it does not, put a drawer column beside this cabinet instead.
- What is the difference between a vanity sink base and a vanity base?
- The sink base has the shelf left out and the back opened for the drain and supply lines. The plain base has a shelf and an intact floor. At 24" they are the same price, so nothing but the SKU tells you which you ordered.
