Galaxy Horizon oven cabinets: a single oven in a tower, or under the counter?

Reviewed September 2026 · Captivating Cabinets

Prices quoted in this article were read off the grid on the review date; the live price grid on this page governs.

A single wall oven can live in two places in this line: at chest height in a tall tower, or below the counter in a base cabinet built for it. The tower is the one people picture, and for many kitchens it is the right answer, but it is not the only one, and the difference in cabinet cost alone is more than a thousand dollars. A Fabuwood Galaxy Horizon oven cabinet for a single oven is 33″ wide and comes in four heights, GH OC3384S to GH OC3396S, at $1,758.25 to $1,920.75. Its real rival on the catalog is GH BOC30, the 30″ base oven cabinet, at $598.00. This page weighs them honestly.

What is on this page, and what is on the others

Three kinds of oven tower are sold in this finish, and this page holds the single-oven one. The double oven cabinet takes two stacked wall ovens and the combo oven cabinet takes a wall oven with a microwave or speed oven above it. All three are 33″ wide and come in the same four heights, 84″, 90″, 93″ and 96″, so they line up with the pantries and with each other. If you already know you want two ovens, or an oven plus a microwave in one tower, those pages are the place to start. If the question is whether one oven belongs in a tower at all, read on.

Three homes for one oven

A single oven can go in a tower, in a base cabinet under the counter, or in a range. Only the first two involve an oven cabinet, but the range belongs in the comparison because it is what most kitchens already have. The table compares them on the things that change daily life, not just on price.

A single oven three ways. Cabinet prices are displayed prices in this finish on 2026-09-28; everything else is our planning guidance.

The case for the tower

Stainless double wall oven set into a white painted shaker tower with a cabinet above and a drawer below, next to a wall of tall pantry doors
An oven tower in white paint, not this stain. This one holds two ovens; the single-oven version on this page frames one oven the same way.

The tower’s whole advantage is height. A heavy casserole, a turkey or a full sheet pan comes out of a tower oven at roughly the height of the arms, not from the floor, and for anyone who bakes often or has a stiff back that difference is felt every day. The tower also separates the oven from the cooktop, so two people can use them at once without one standing in front of the other.

It adds storage, too. The cabinet space above the oven opening is a good home for trays, cooling racks and roasting pans, the things that come out of the oven and are awkward to store anywhere else. Check the exact configuration of the model you choose on its product page or with us, since the listing does not break down the internal layout.

From the room, the tower reads as a tall, stained frame around a stainless or black appliance. Fabuwood photographs this grey-taupe with stainless steel, and a steel oven face in a grained frame is one of the more convincing combinations the finish has. If the tower stands at the end of a run, its side is exposed and needs a finished surface; the tall end skin, GH SK TALL, is $169.00 on the cabinet skin page.

The case for keeping the oven under the counter

GH BOC30, the base oven cabinet, is listed on the base cabinets page at $598.00. It holds a wall oven below the counter, usually under a cooktop, and it keeps the counter above it in use. In a small kitchen that is a real advantage: a tower takes 33″ of counter away permanently, and in a short L or a galley, 33″ of counter can be a third of the prep space.

It is also the cheaper route by a wide margin. The difference between the cheapest single-oven tower and the base oven cabinet is $1,160.25, and at the tallest height it is $1,322.75. That money can go toward a better oven, a proper hood, or more drawers elsewhere.

Two cautions. First, not every wall oven is approved by its maker for installation under a counter or a cooktop; the oven’s installation guide says so, and it should be checked before either the oven or the cabinet is ordered. Second, an under-counter oven puts the door near the floor, which is exactly what the tower avoids. For an occasional baker that barely matters. For someone who roasts every weekend it matters a great deal.

Deciding in four questions

  1. How often is the oven used, and by whom? Daily bakers and anyone with back trouble lean toward the tower.
  2. Is there a wall that can take a 33″ tall unit without losing counter you need? If not, the base oven cabinet or a range is the practical answer.
  3. Is your chosen oven approved for under-counter installation? If not, the choice is already made.
  4. Is there a landing spot within a step of the tower for a hot dish? A tower with no counter nearby is a hazard, not an upgrade.

Living with the tower: grease, heat and the doors around the oven

Whichever route you choose, the doors closest to the oven get the most handling in the kitchen. Hands go straight from a roasting tin to the cupboard above the oven for a rack, or to the drawer below for an oven glove, and a fine film of cooking grease settles on nearby fronts over months. On a stained, grained door that film shows less than on a flat white, but it still dulls the surface if it is left to build.

Fabuwood’s care guidance for its finishes keeps this simple: a mild cleaner, a damp rather than wet cloth, and never a spray aimed straight at the wood. That last point matters beside an oven, because oven cleaners and heavy degreasers are exactly the products that should not drift onto cabinet doors. Use them on the appliance, with the cabinet fronts covered, and clean the cabinets separately. The care guide covers the rest.

Heat is the appliance maker’s territory. Wall ovens are designed to be built into cabinetry, and their installation guides set the clearances and any ventilation the cabinet needs; follow the guide for your model and send it to us with the order. If you run the self-clean cycle, keep the doors of the tower closed and the room ventilated, as the oven maker directs.

The four single-oven towers, priced

All four are 33″ wide; the only difference is height, which should match the rest of the tall wall.

93″GH OC3393S$1,842.75
96″GH OC3396S$1,920.75

Each ships assembled on the ½″ veneered plywood box, with Blum soft-close hinges on the doors, in about two weeks. Pantries of the same height sit alongside: the single door pantry from $871.00 and the double door pantry from $1,241.50. The rest of the tall range is on the tall cabinet page, the finish in the collection, and a free 3D design will draw both options in your kitchen so you can see what the tower costs in counter before paying for it.

Common questions

Is it better to put a wall oven in a tall cabinet or under the counter?
A tall cabinet puts the oven at a comfortable height and keeps it separate from the cooktop; under the counter keeps your counter space and costs far less. Frequent bakers usually prefer the tower, and small kitchens usually do better under the counter.
Can any wall oven go under a counter?
No. Some wall ovens are approved by their makers for under-counter or under-cooktop installation and some are not. Check the oven’s installation guide before ordering either the oven or the cabinet.
How much more does an oven tower cost than a base oven cabinet?
In this finish the single-oven tower runs $1,758.25 to $1,920.75 and the 30″ base oven cabinet GH BOC30 is $598.00, a difference of $1,160.25 to $1,322.75 on the cabinet alone.
Where do double and combo oven cabinets live?
On their own pages. The double oven tower takes two stacked wall ovens and the combo tower takes an oven with a microwave or speed oven above; all three tower types are 33″ wide in the same four heights.
How do I clean grease off stained cabinets near an oven?
With a mild cleaner on a damp cloth, then a dry wipe, following the grain. Keep oven cleaners and strong degreasers off the cabinet doors entirely; Fabuwood’s care guidance is mild cleaners only and never spraying cleaner directly onto the wood.
How much is a Galaxy Horizon single oven cabinet?
GH OC3384S is $1,758.25, GH OC3390S is $1,839.50, GH OC3393S is $1,842.75 and GH OC3396S is $1,920.75, each 33″ wide and assembled.
