Five 36-inch boxes at one price, and which room each belongs in

Four hundred and ninety dollars seventy-five cents is the most crowded price in this collection. Eleven listings share it, and five of them are 36-inch cabinets: two built for a bathroom and three built for a kitchen. They are not interchangeable, the price gives you no clue which is which, and the kitchen ones are physically bigger — which is exactly why people put them in bathrooms and regret it.
The five cabinets, and the two dimensions that separate them
Same width, same price, same door. The difference is the carcass: a bath box in this line is 21 inches deep and 34 inches tall, while a kitchen base is 24 deep and 34½ tall.

Confirm both figures against the published spec sheet before you order — they are the two dimensions that decide whether a top fits, and they are the two most often assumed rather than checked.
The free upgrade that is not one
The reasoning is tempting and we hear it most weeks: the kitchen box is three inches deeper and costs the same, so why not use it as a vanity. You can. The heights are close enough that a counter lands where you expect, and a great many bathrooms have been built this way.
Three things go wrong. The first is floor: three inches of extra projection in a bathroom five feet across is three inches taken out of the space you stand in, and it is very often the difference between the door clearing the counter corner and not. The second is the top — bath tops are made for a 21-inch box, so a 24-inch cabinet either overhangs at the back or sits proud at the front, and neither reads as deliberate. The third is the half inch of height, which nobody notices until a bath top with an integral backsplash is set against a wall tiled to a line.
Run the tape across the room before you decide. In a large bathroom with a long wall and a custom top, the deeper box is a perfectly reasonable choice and gives you a genuinely more useful counter. In a small one it is the cabinet that makes the room feel smaller for no saving at all.
The third bath option at this width
GN VSD36DL and GN VSD36DR at $783.25 are the sink-and-drawer combos — the basin offset to one side, a bank of dovetailed drawers on the other, all in one carcass. That is $292.50 above the plain sink base, and it is the cheapest route to real drawer storage at this width by a wide margin.
The trade is that the bowl position is now fixed, which matters upstream and downstream. Upstream: the trap sits on the bowl side, so the existing waste has to be there or be moved there, and moving a waste pipe is the expensive part of a bathroom. Downstream: a mirror hung centrally on a combo vanity puts the reflection over the drawers while you stand at the basin looking at the frame. Centre the mirror on the bowl, or run one wide mirror the full width of the cabinet, and the problem disappears.
Planning the run above 36 inches
This is the last width before the bath ladder stops stepping in threes — above it the sizes are 42, 48 and 60, so a wall between 37 and 41 inches means this cabinet plus filler, or this cabinet plus a narrow companion box. A 36 and a 15-inch column make a 51-inch run, which is a wide single basin with sorted storage beside it and no second drain to pay for.
Measure the boxes as they will stand and add the overhang you want at any exposed end, usually about an inch. If the vanity runs wall to wall, take the measurement at the front of the cabinet and again at the back, and template to the tighter of the two.
It is worth pricing that companion-box route against simply buying wider, because the answer is not the one people expect. GN VSB36-34 plus the 15-inch drawer stack comes to $1,118.00 and fills 51 inches with a basin and four sorted drawers. The single-bowl 60-inch combo fills nine inches more for $1,196.00 — $78.00 apart. If the wall can take five feet, the wider box is very nearly free, and it arrives as one carcass with no joint under the counter.
Where the wall genuinely stops at 51, the pair is the right answer and a good one. Just order the two cabinets together and have the top cut across both as a single piece; two separate tops butted in the middle of a bathroom is the detail that makes a run look assembled rather than built.
