Three feet of shelf: the thirty-six-inch grid, shallow and deep

Thirty-six inches is the best value per inch on the wall and the last width the rest of the catalogue is cut to fit — the glass parts, the stemware rail and the tray cabinet all stop here. The grid at this width divides cleanly in two: the short boxes come in a deep version made to sit flush above a refrigerator, and the tall boxes stay in the ordinary twelve-inch plane. Almost nothing crosses the line between them, which makes the table below simpler to read than its size suggests.

Doubling the depth costs between $117.00 and $224.25 depending on height, and the gap widens as the box gets taller. Note too that the blind corner undercuts the plain box at every height it is built at — the only corner in the collection that does, because a blind unit is one door and a hidden half rather than two doors and a full interior. The diagonal and pie-cut corners are not made at this width at all; the blind wall family is the only cabinet that turns a corner here.
Three feet of unsupported shelf
The adjustable shelves are three-quarter-inch stock and there is no centre partition in a box this wide, so each shelf spans the full thirty-six inches with nothing under it. No load rating is published, and we will not invent one. What we will say is what shows up on jobs: a shelf that long carrying a dense, evenly spread load — a full row of dinner plates, a run of tinned goods — takes a visible set over a few years, and the set does not come back out.
Two practical answers, and they cost nothing. Put the heavy, dense things in base drawers, where the span is short and the weight sits on runners, and keep the wide upper for the light bulky things it is genuinely good at: bowls, platters on edge, cereal, glassware. Then spread what is left across two shelf positions rather than loading one, which halves the weight per span.
The deep half, and the prices that run backwards

Hang a shallow box above one and three things happen at once: a ledge appears on top of the appliance that collects dust and nothing else, the cabinet face ends up a foot behind the fridge face, and the shelf you gained is too shallow for the tray you meant to keep on it.
The pricing here runs against intuition. At four of the five heights the thirty-six-inch deep box displays below the thirty-three-inch one: $370.50 against $455.00 at twelve inches tall, $403.00 against $461.50 at fifteen, $419.25 against $468.00 at eighteen, $487.50 against $497.25 at twenty-one. Only at twenty-four inches tall does the wider box cost more. If the opening will take thirty-six inches, the wider deep box is very often the cheaper one — but confirm the figure before an order, because a price list that runs backwards is a price list worth checking.
