The Galaxy Indigo diagonal sink base cabinet is a 36″ corner box set at forty-five degrees, in two versions, GI DSB36 and GI DSB36FD, both $617.50. Navy is rarely the only colour in a kitchen, and the corner is where two runs meet, so this cabinet is often where a two-tone plan has to decide which colour wins. That decision matters more than anything else on this page.
Where the navy stops in an L or U, and why not on the corner face

A colour change looks intentional when it happens at a natural break: a change of height, an appliance, a tall cabinet, the end of a run. It looks like an ordering error when it happens in the middle of something continuous. The angled face of a corner sink is continuous with both legs, so splitting the colours there, or making the corner box the odd one out, is the one arrangement we steer people away from.
| Layout | What the corner box is | Our view |
|---|---|---|
| Navy lowers, white uppers | Navy, like every base | The easiest version. The break is horizontal, at the counter, and the corner simply follows the lowers |
| Navy on one leg, white on the other | Has to pick a side | Hard to do well. Move the change to the far side of the dishwasher, the range or a tall unit on one leg, and let the corner match the leg it is closer to |
| White perimeter, navy island | White; this page is not your cabinet | The classic plan. Order the corner sink base in Frost, Dove or Linen instead |
| Navy everywhere, including the island | Navy | Works in a bright room with light counters and floors; heavy in a small or dim one |
If the corner is navy, the uppers above it are usually the lighter colour, and the counter joint at the corner becomes the line between them. If you are unsure which of these your room is, a free 3D design shows both versions side by side, and our kitchen layouts guide covers the L and U plans where a corner sink makes sense.
Navy at forty-five degrees: where the violet shows
Fabuwood describes this colour as a deep navy with violet undertones. On a flat run of doors facing the room that undertone mostly stays hidden. The diagonal face is different: it catches light from the window side and from the ceiling at a glancing angle, and under a warm lamp that angled panel is the place where a faint violet cast is most likely to appear next to the bluer doors on either leg. It is the same paint reacting to a different angle of light, not a mismatch.
Bulb colour decides how much of it you see. As a rough guide:
- 2700K and warmer: the navy can turn muddy, and the violet lean is most visible on angled panels.
- 3000K: the colour reads as navy with a little warmth. A good default for under-cabinet strips.
- 3500K: the most neutral blue; useful if the room has little daylight.
- 4000K and cooler: the paint reads bluer and harder, and warm-white counters can look slightly gray beside it.
DSB36 or DSB36FD when the corner is navy
Both take 36″ of each wall at 34½″ high and cost $617.50. GI DSB36 has a false drawer front above the door; GI DSB36FD has one full-height door and a taller opening. On a light cabinet the choice is mostly about the shadow line of the false front. On navy the shadow lines are softer, and the thing you actually see is the hardware.
If the drawer bases on both legs have pulls at the same height in brass or nickel, the DSB36 lets that line of metal carry across the corner, which ties the two legs together. If the corner should read as one calm navy panel, or something tall like a filter tank needs to get past the trap, the DSB36FD is the better box. Either way, use a knob or a short pull on the angled door: a long bar pull swings into the drawer fronts on the adjacent legs.
What goes above a corner sink when the lowers are navy
A navy base corner topped by navy wall cabinets on both sides makes the darkest spot in the room, right where you need to see what you are washing. Most Indigo kitchens avoid that in one of three ways. A window in the corner is the ideal; the sink gets daylight and the navy gets a bright backdrop. White oak open shelving is the second choice and brings in the wood that partners so well with navy. Third, the uppers can switch to the lighter perimeter colour, so the corner reads navy below and white above.
Whichever you choose, give the sink a dedicated light: a pendant or a recessed can directly above the bowl, plus under-cabinet strips on both legs. The countertop corner piece is usually the largest slab in the kitchen, and a white or warm-white quartz there reflects light down onto the navy doors. For the storage the corner gives up, compare the lazy Susan base in the same finish, which starts at $1,030.25 for the 33″ GI LSB33.
The other diagonal listing, and the straight-wall sinks
The diagonal sink front shares the name but is only an angled door and frame, $149.50, for a corner cavity an installer builds between two runs. This page is the finished cabinet. If the sink moves to a straight wall, a sink base starts at $386.75, and an apron sink needs the farm sink cabinet from $806.00. All of them are in the Indigo collection, which also lists the lighter finishes that work as the second colour.
Common questions
- In a two-tone kitchen, should the corner cabinet be navy or white?
- It should match whichever colour the lower run is. With navy lowers and white uppers, the corner is navy. If one leg is navy and the other white, move the colour change to an appliance or tall cabinet on one leg rather than splitting it at the corner.
- Why do my navy cabinets look purple?
- Warm light brings out the violet undertone that Fabuwood mentions for Indigo, especially on angled panels like a corner sink door. Under-cabinet lighting at 3000K to 3500K keeps it reading as navy.
- What colour light bulbs are best for navy kitchen cabinets?
- Between 3000K and 3500K. At 2700K and warmer navy can look muddy or slightly purple; at 4000K and cooler it looks harder and bluer, and warm-white counters can go slightly gray.
- What is the difference between DSB36 and DSB36FD?
- DSB36 has a false drawer front above the door so the drawer and hardware line continues across the corner. DSB36FD has one full-height door and a taller opening. Both are $617.50 and take 36″ of each wall.
- What should go above a corner sink with navy lower cabinets?
- Ideally a window. If there is none, white oak open shelves or upper cabinets in the lighter perimeter colour keep the corner from becoming the darkest spot in the room. Add a pendant or recessed light directly over the sink either way.
- How much is the Galaxy Indigo corner sink cabinet?
- $617.50 for either GI DSB36 or GI DSB36FD, assembled, with the Galaxy shaker door and Blum soft-close hinges. The diagonal sink front with the same 36 in its name is a separate, face-only part at $149.50.
