Full height single door bases, 9 to 21 inches: the hardware each width is built to carry

Reviewed September 2026 · Captivating Cabinets

Delete the drawer from a narrow base and the door becomes a mounting surface. That is the real product on this page: Galaxy Linen full height single door base cabinets are the boxes without a drawer that the pull-out hardware in this line is sized against, and the honest way to price one is together with its hardware rather than bare.

A door with nothing above it is a mounting surface

Galaxy Linen base run beside a range with a 6 inch filler pull-out of spice jars extended
The unit runs the height of the door. A drawer box above it would stop it at the top.

Every pull-out in the catalog — the 9″ and 12″ organizers, the trash units, the roll-out trays — is listed against a cabinet width, and the tall ones against a cabinet with no drawer. The reason is geometry. A door-mounted unit fixes to the back of the door and rides out with it; a floor-mounted one extends through the full opening; the drawer box on a plain B cabinet sits in the top five inches of exactly that space.

The doors hang on Blum Quick-Release hinges with Blumotion soft-close: the door clips off, the unit’s front mounts to it, and the door clips back on. What you should not do is hang a heavy unit on a door and then load it with tins — the hinge then carries the door, the frame and the contents every time it opens. For anything heavy, choose a floor-mounted frame and let the door swing free. Our pull-out accessories guide goes through the mounting styles.

Width by width: the box, its hardware, and the two together

Five widths, all 34½″ high and 24″ deep. The hardware column is what the catalog lists at that width; the last column is what the pair costs, which is the number that belongs on the plan.

The hardware costs more than the box at every width except where it is a plain tray. That is the point: the cabinet is the cheap part of a pull-out cabinet. Two cautions. The 9″ and 12″ organizers are listed by width only — three different 9″ units at $672.75, $806.00 and $880.75 — and the catalog titles do not say how they differ, so ask us which configuration you are getting. And the trash units come in a standard and an FHD version at identical prices; for these boxes it is the FHD one. All of it is on the cabinet accessories page, with the bins broken out on the trash pull-out page.

Base cabinets either side of the range: the 9 and 12 inch pair

The best use of the two narrowest widths is symmetrical: one on each side of the range. Trays and boards on edge in one, oils and spices on a pull-out in the other, and the range framed by two tall doors of the same paint instead of two half-drawers. It is also the arrangement that makes a 30″ range look intended rather than dropped into a gap.

Price the pair, not the box. Two GL B09FD come to $546.00 and add 18″ to the wall; two GL B12FD are $656.50 and add 24″. With a 30″ range that makes a 48″ or 54″ block, which matters when you are landing a run on a wall length. Order the hinges mirrored — left box hinged left, right box hinged right — so both doors open away from the burners, and say so on the order, because the part number carries no hand.

The 12 inch deep base cabinet, in plane with the wall cabinets

All five widths come 12″ deep: GL B09FD-12D at $266.50, B12FD-12D at $321.75, B15FD-12D at $331.50, B18FD-12D at $364.00 and B21FD-12D at $390.00 — $6.50 to $9.75 under the full-depth box, so nobody buys these to save money. What they buy is alignment. Wall cabinets are 12″ deep, and a 12″ base under one puts both faces on a single plane: a wall of doors from floor to ceiling with no counter step between them.

That is a coffee wall or a bar back with a 12″ counter between the rows, a pantry corridor where a 24″ box would choke the passage, the wall of a laundry room. It wants a top cut for it rather than a standard-depth slab, and a fabricator who knows the base is shallow before the template is made. The wall cabinets in this finish are the other half of that plane, and the small kitchen layouts guide shows the rooms where twelve inches of depth is the difference between a run and no run.

Beige at knee height

Shaker door samples in white, cream, gray, navy and oak laid on a quartz counter beside a range
Tape the sample low, under the counter overhang, where a full-height base door actually lives.

A full-height door is the largest single piece of this paint below the counter, and base doors live in the counter’s shadow — undercabinet light falls on the worktop, not on them. Linen glows creamy in a bright south-facing room and can go muddy in a dim one, and the strip under a counter overhang is dim in every kitchen. The same door that a showroom visitor calls cream or warm white is, down there, beige — and it is better to know that before the order than after.

So sample it there. The door sample is $25.00; tape it at base height against the floor you are keeping and look at it in the afternoon and again under the room lights at night. Warm floors — oak, warm tile — hold the beige up; cool gray tile drains it. Run the room at 2700–3000K, not 4000K cans, which strip the warmth out entirely. If it still reads flat in your light, the Linen versus Dove page is the honest next stop.

What arrives, and when: assembled, soft-close, one to three weeks

None of this is flat-pack. Every full-height box ships pre-assembled, joined with dowels and glue plus pocket screws, with a ½″ select solid wood carcass and a natural wood veneer interior — which matters more here than on a drawer cabinet, because with no drawer box in the way, the inside of the cabinet is what you look at every time the door opens. The door itself is a solid wood frame around a ⅜″ MDF center panel, full overlay, on Blum Quick-Release soft-close hinges, and the whole thing carries Fabuwood’s limited lifetime warranty.

Lead time is seven days to three weeks, quicker than the rest of the Allure line at three to five, and the pull-out hardware ships alongside so the pair land together. Two figures we do not publish here because the catalog does not — the shelf count in a bare box and the exact clear opening behind the door — we confirm against the current Fabuwood spec sheet before an order goes in, so ask rather than scaling them off a drawing.

Wider than 21″ with the drawer still gone is the two-door full-height page; the same five widths with a drawer across the top are the single door bases; the working positions want the three-drawer banks. The rest of the finish — sinks, corners, walls, talls — is on the collection page.

Common questions

Which trash pull-out fits a full-height door base?
The FHD version — GLN TC15FHD BLUM for a 15″ box, TC18FHD for 18″, TC21FHD for 21″, at $617.50, $734.50 and $809.25. The standard version at the same price is built for a box that keeps its top drawer, so order the one that matches the front.
How much does a 15 inch base with a trash pull-out cost?
About $958.75 — $341.25 for GL B15FD and $617.50 for the full-height-door trash unit. The hardware is more than the cabinet, which is true of every pull-out cabinet in the line and is the number to put on the plan.
Is there a 9 inch base cabinet with a drawer?
No. GL B09FD is a full-height door only, at $273.00 (or $266.50 in the 12″-deep version). Drawers on a narrow base start at 12″ with GL B12.
What are the dimensions of a full height single door base cabinet?
34½″ high and 24″ deep at every width, in 9, 12, 15, 18 and 21 inch widths; the -12D versions keep the height and widths at 12″ deep. The door runs the full height of the face with no drawer above it, which is what lets a tall pull-out use the whole opening.
Can a 12 inch deep base cabinet go under a standard wall cabinet?
Yes, and that alignment is the reason to buy one. Wall cabinets are 12″ deep, so the two faces sit on one plane with a 12″ counter between them — a coffee wall, a bar back or a pantry corridor. Have the top cut for the shallow depth.
What is the cheapest way to get a roll-out in a narrow base?
GL B18FD at $373.75 with a standard-height roll-out tray, GLN ROD-B18 BLUM E, at $201.50 — $575.25 for the pair. The tray sits on the cabinet floor and needs no drawer front, so the full-height door is the right box for it.
