Which wall gets the blind end: placing Galaxy Dove corner base cabinets in an L
Reviewed September 2026 · Captivating Cabinets
A blind box can go on either wall of an L, and that choice does more for the finished kitchen than the width you pick. Galaxy Dove corner base cabinets — GD BLB36/39, BLB39/42, BLB42/45 and BLB48/51, $614.25 to $767.00 — all bury one end of themselves behind the first cabinet on the other wall, so the useful questions are which wall can afford that, and what will be standing in front of the buried end. One thing about the finish belongs on this page and nowhere else: in a two-tone kitchen the corner is always perimeter colour, and everything that touches it has to be ordered that way.
What stands in front of the blind end decides which wall it goes on
The blind end is covered by whichever cabinet or appliance comes first on the perpendicular wall, and that neighbour is the real constraint. A drawer bank there is harmless: its fronts pull straight out toward the room and never touch the corner door. A dishwasher there is the mistake we most often draw people out of. Its door drops into the aisle at the exact spot where the corner door swings, and a dishwasher tight to an inside corner leaves nobody room to stand at the sink while it is open. Decide the neighbour first and the wall chooses itself.
| First on the return wall | What happens at the corner | Filler to order | Our call |
|---|---|---|---|
| A drawer bank | Fronts pull out toward the room; the only conflict is the top drawer pull against the corner door as it opens | GD BF3, 3″, $26.00 | The best neighbour |
| A sink base | One sink door swings toward the corner door; both clear once a 3″ strip separates them | GD BF3, $26.00 | Fine, and common |
| A range | The corner counter becomes the landing space on that side; keep pot handles from pointing at the corner door | GD BF3, $26.00 | Acceptable with a cabinet between range and corner |
| A dishwasher | Its door drops across the corner door swing and blocks the sink standing spot | GD BF6, 6″, $43.55 at least | Put a base between them or move it to the other wall |
So the rule of thumb: the blind end goes under the wall that will start with drawers or a sink, and the wall with the dishwasher and range takes the visible end. If both walls want the appliances, the blind box goes on the longer wall, where a 6″ filler and a base between the dishwasher and the corner still leave room for everything else. The kitchen dimensions guide has the landing and standing clearances those rows rely on.
In a two-tone kitchen the corner belongs to the perimeter

This finish is the one we reach for when the plan has an Indigo or Timber island: off-white around the walls, colour in the middle of the room. The corner box sits on the walls, so it is Dove, its drawer front lines up with the Dove drawer banks either side of it, and the filler and toe kick at the corner are Dove too. Order the filler from the island colour to use up stock and the seam between the two runs is the first thing anyone sees from the island.
The other thing the corner does in a two-tone room is tell you whether the off-white is reading as white. The corner is the point farthest from the island, and from the island it is framed by the coloured cabinets in front of it. Against Indigo or Timber the door reads clean white; the warmth only becomes visible when something starker sits directly beside it. Which brings up the dishwasher again: a white dishwasher front on the return wall, hard against this box, is the starkest white in the kitchen sitting next to the off-white door. The gap is smaller than it would be beside a beige door, and it is not invisible. Stainless or a panel-ready front removes the comparison.
For how this finish sits against the rest of the palette, and where it stops being the right call, the Fabuwood colour guide covers the pairings we draw most.
The four boxes, their 3-inch pull, and which two take a pull-out
Every one of them is 34½″ high and 24″ deep with one door and a drawer above it; the label carries two widths because the box is designed to be drawn up to 3″ off the corner with a filler behind it. That travel is how an installer lands a run on a wall that does not divide by three, and it is worth using on purpose.
| Box | Tight to the corner | Drawn out to | Displayed price | Blind-base pull-out |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GD BLB36/39 | 36″ | 39″ | $614.25 | Not listed for this size |
| GD BLB39/42 | 39″ | 42″ | $685.75 | Not listed for this size |
| GD BLB42/45 | 42″ | 45″ | $767.00 | GD BPO-BLB42/45, left or right, $1,277.25 |
| GD BLB48/51 | 48″ | 51″ | $767.00 | GD BPO-BLB48/51, left or right, $1,394.25 |
Two things fall out of the table. The 42 inch blind corner cabinet and the 48 are priced identically, so when the wall has six more inches the 48 is free width. And the carriage that rescues the buried end is only stocked for those two, handed, under cabinet accessories — the two smaller boxes are bought as they are.
Hand, filler, toe kick: the three lines under the cabinet on the order
- The hand. The buried end is cut at the factory, so tell us whether it is on the left or the right as you stand in the room facing the run. Draw the L and mark the wall the blind end goes under; if it is not obvious, a free design request settles it before anything ships.
- The filler. GD BF3 at $26.00 for the ordinary case, GD BF6 at $43.55 when a dishwasher or a long bar pull needs more room, both under decorative accessories and ripped to width on site.
- The toe kick. GD TK8 is an 8-foot length at $55.90, and the corner uses more of it than a straight run because the recess turns the inside corner on a miter. Put it on the same order as the box so the paint is one batch.
The grammar of the SKUs — why the blind box is BLB, the angled one ERB and the rotating one LSB — is in our SKU decoder, and the rest of the finish, corner boxes included, is on the Galaxy Dove collection page.
Common questions
- Which wall should a blind corner cabinet go on?
- The wall whose neighbour at the corner will be drawers or a sink. Those clear the corner door with a 3″ filler. Keep the blind end away from the wall that starts with a dishwasher, because its door drops across the corner door swing and blocks the sink.
- Can a dishwasher go next to a blind corner cabinet?
- It can, but it should not sit tight to the corner. Put a base cabinet between the dishwasher and the corner, or use at least a 6″ filler, so its open door does not cover the corner door and the standing spot at the sink.
- How much does a corner base cabinet cost in Galaxy Dove?
- $614.25 for the 36/39, $685.75 for the 39/42, and $767.00 for both the 42/45 and the 48/51. The blind-base pull-out, stocked for the two larger boxes only, is $1,277.25 or $1,394.25 on top.
- Does the corner cabinet have to match the island in a two-tone kitchen?
- No — the corner sits on the perimeter, so it stays in the perimeter colour along with its filler and toe kick. A Dove perimeter over an Indigo or Timber island is a pairing we draw constantly; the seam between them belongs at the island, not at the corner.
- Will a white dishwasher look wrong beside an off-white corner cabinet?
- It is the starkest white in the room sitting against the softest, and you will see the difference — less than beside a beige door, but not nothing. Stainless or a panel-ready front avoids the comparison entirely.
- Is the blind corner pull-out worth it in a small kitchen?
- Only when both walls are too short for a 33″ or 36″ square corner box and the corner still has to hold daily cookware. Otherwise the money buys a rotating or fixed-shelf corner outright, with nothing hidden.
